Tarantulas and Scorpion harder to find?

It's currently just about 1:00AM in my town I have been searching for a Tarantula and Scorpion for about 2 hours and haven't found one yet. Has the spawn rates been lowered for them? I remember finding at least a few in City folk and Wild World.

I only ever found one scorpion in Wild World while I've found several tarantulas and scorpions in ACNL. But maybe that's just because I've been playing ACNL more

They are rare but they like to hide near flowers from my experience. I usually see one of either every night.

Hm maybe I'm just not looking hard enough or I'm just tired. I'll half to be more carefully tomorrow night.
