Hello everyone!

I have time-travelled back to August to catch the tarantula and I cannot get it to spawn! I've got two scorpions to spawn that I failed catching but I need a tarantula! If you have any tips please share them with me! What I am doing is I am in an area with no flowers, no trees but a few PWPs and saving and continuing for one to spawn. Please let me know anything I could do to make my chances slightly higher.

Thanks in advance!

I recently went through this same situation. Many nice people answered and it basically boiled down to just keep looking. Some people caught them around trees & flowers. Some on the rocks outside the train station. A few caught them in their Plaza. It seems there's no rhyme or reason to their spawning. The only things that seem sure are the months they're available and that they're out between 5 -7 PM. I finally caught one at 6:58 PM my time a week or so ago. I had given up looking for the night and was just walking to ReTail to sell something when the tarantula spawned. I really wish I had better advice. Good luck!

Thank you! Are you sure that they spawn only between 5 and 7 PM? A youtube guide I was watching said that they spawn more commonly after 10 PM. I'll go wandering then instead of just saving and continuing. Thanks for your help.

I wish I could be more help. Yes, between 5-7 PM. That's what everyone told me & I did see the same time on many other forums when I was doing research.

It's 7pm to 4am for the tarantula. I found that I caught mine when I wasn't hunting for them. Just doing tasks for villagers, fishing or watering flowers. If one of my players gets the catch a tarantula for a meow coupons or the weather is nice I'll send that player out.
If you don't catch it the first night mark down the time. Change the clock to that time and keep the date the same.

I did that with 3 players in one of my casual towns. They a scorpion or a tarantula challenge. It took 3 days leaving it at the same date but changing the time when I ended the night before. All 3 players caught their bugs.

I leave a few flowers in the opened areas for the tarantula or scorpion to hide.
I just carry my fishing rod and have my net in my pocket. See one of those bugs I pull the net out. If it tries to attack I freeze and wait for it to sit down. I than move slowly towards and catch it.

Thank you, but what do you mean by if you don't catch it the first night then mark down the time? And the scorpion/tarantula challenge you were talking about.

Oh my gosh! I am terribly sorry! I got the time for the Petal Tail Dragonfly (another bug I went through H*ll catching) mixed up with the Tarantula. Other than that the rest of my response was correct. I'm so sorry!

I mark the time ended so I can start it back up at that time. One night I ended at 11pm so I asked Isabelle to change the date back and time to 11pm the next day. By 330 am I had all the bugs.
The meow coupons are the initiatives you get when you start the game up. 2 are a daily thing and the Tarantula and scorpion can be one of those initiatives. On those days my players usually catch the bugs in a short period of time. Not sure why it's a daily one. It should be a week long one worth 3 coupons. Last night 2 of my main town players had the catch a scorpion for 2 coupons.

I caught my tarantula really late at night when there were fewer other bugs around that could spawn. I tt'd to 11:00pm and walked slowly around my entire town. When I got to the train station or the cafe, I entered and exited to reset the bugs. I wasn't carrying my net but had it set so I could pull it out as soon as I saw one. That way they won't sneak up and bite you.

It took about an hour where I saw absolutely none, but then I saw 3 in a row all right outside my cafe. The first two disappeared behind trees but I was able to grab the third one.

If you're seeing too many scorpions and you're willing to tt, it might help to go back to June so the scorpion won't spawn?

Thanks but I hate time travelling more than a couple of days so I'll probably just keep doing what I am now or wait until next summer.

Hello! I also had a hard time catching a tarantula. My advice is don't run or walk really fast too much since it agitates them and they start to move around frantically and disappear. Next is to have less flowers in open spaces. It can be really hard to find when there are a lot of flowers in your town. The only time I caught mine is when I chopped down all my trees and dig up holes all over my town but just leaving a lot of empty space for them to spawn. That's already pretty extreme. I do not recommend you doing it if you already have a landscaped town. I only did it because I was really frustrated not being able to catch any scorpions and tarantulas. Plus I really needed to landscape my town since they were overrun with tulips and pansies. Good luck amd have fun!
