Sometimes I will see a town rule about not speaking to animals. Am I right in assuming that if someone talks to an animal it will be more likely to move and come to that persons town? I let people talk to my animals all of the time and none of them have left after I denied their plans to move. What is this about? Too cautious or actual thing?

No, it's just that they will bring up the person in conversation once every so often. Some people just don't like hearing about random people they traded with once and don't remember who it is. :)

No, I think it is because villager will mention visitors they talked to. Some people prefer not to have their villagers talk about people who only visited once and don't know personally =)

Personally, I don't mind, I enjoy a change in dialogue and it makes me remember all the nice people who have visited me ^_^

No, talking to villagers from another town doesn't affect the chances of them wanting to move whatsoever. The reason some people have this rule is because they don't want their villager to keep talking about the person who visited. Some of my villagers still talk about people who last visited my town over a year ago, saying "they met them recently". :p It doesn't really bother me, but I can imagine other people are bothered by it.

The only time when talking to a villager makes them move to a specific town is when they're already in boxes and the visitor has a free spot in their town. In that case, during the conversation they get the option to invite them. Otherwise, the only way that a villager will move to a specific town is if they're voided and you visit or are visited by someone with a free spot.

People have that rule to avoid wasting time during trades and sometimes because villagers will talk to you about visitors they've met.

Oh... I see... Well, thanks everyone! My animal's talking about other people doesn't bother me either. Sometimes they talk about dream visitors too, so should those people also not talk in dreams too? It all just seems a bit... pointless almost, to avoid talking to villagers then. But to each their own!

They talk about dream visitors they've interacted with and I guess that people just ignore that or don't get dream addresses. I used to talk to animals a lot when I visited dream towns for the first few times, until I discovered that they talk about dream visitors. Now I never bother, since their dream dialogue is very repetitive anyway, unless it's a villager whose voice I want to hear. That's just me, though.

I go to the dream suite and dream the town that the villagers are talking about.
Someone took the time to visit mine.
It doesn't bug me when people talk to my villagers. One villager greeting is Hi Mom for my online friend.
Her name is Mom. Your visitors can tell you what the villagers think of you.

But it also stops them from saying things that you might want them to say, e.g. can you get me this that or the other. A lot of people want their villager's photos, so idle chit chat is just wasting your time if you want them to give you a task.
