Super confused!

So after my twelve day tbt leave, I came back to cycle. Sorry for the dissapearance!
ANYWAYS.
After I came back I went onto my town and rewinded it back to the date I knew Rod was in boxes (May 8th on ACNL.) I go on and I thank god that Rod was still in town because I had a few lurkers. But when I went to go check on him in his house, I was about to go inside when it says this​

Has this happened to any of you guys? I was so weirded out. Its my first time having this happen.

I've had that happen to me. When they fall asleep in the game, and they're in boxes, it'll show that message instead of a message about them sleeping. What time was it in game?

Usually this happens after you trade with someone and then the villager decides to move to the new town. This message I've only seen after the person leaves and you end the multi-player online thing. I have no clue why else it would happen, especially since you didn't do this...

It says that to you after someone has adopted a villagers.
