Stupid question

If you have 9 villagers currently in a town after a 10th village moves, do you still get to pick the 10th, or will someone move in?

You only get random move ins when you have 8 or less villagers, the 10th spot only gets filled via campsite or street passing.

Yay! So tomorrow I shouldn't get a new villager? I'm going to do the new player trick just in case something happens because with my luck, it will.

Unless you think you've street passed someone you shouldn't have to! If you're really worried about a random move in you could do the reset trick until someone you like shows up in your campsite and ask them to move in so your town if full again.
