I've been able to find a few of each type of egg already, but none of the stones on my island are making stone eggs when hit? could it be that I used them all up before bunny day started and now they're empty till tomorrow?
or is there a breakable stone somewhere that was added for egg day like new leaf?

One of my stones gave me a couple of eggs. I spoke to one of my villagers, and they told me that island tour rocks spawn a lot more eggs.
That was pretty lucky, because I ended up taking an island tour, and found 15 stone eggs! :-] So, you'll have to travel if you need more than what you get on your own island.
