So I caved and bought a new cartridge today. I already know how I want to theme it, but was wondering if you guys had any tips/must do for starting a new town?
It depends on how you want to play it. If it's a town that you feel like you're going to want to "perfect" or make really aesthetically nice, you'll probably want to plan it out before taking any major steps (more to save time than anything). Especially if you're short on supplies, or don't plan on getting supplies quickly, then you should set down QR codes for where you want things to be, like PWPs and trees (if you're finnicky). And if you really want to, you could also plot out where you want villagers to go.
A really helpful thing if you're into having dream villagers, is to try to get as many as you can before villagers plot in naturally and fill up the 10 spaces. That way, you save a bunch of time trying to get the ones you want to move out.
I want it to be a Neverland themed town, so I have some general ideas but nothing crazy specific. Any suggestions on which villagers would fit in well? Or QR codes?
I would say town map is the key. Look for a map that will work with the public works project you most want. Look for maps that don’t have tiny narrow passages that you can’t fit anything.
Town map is definitely key. I didn't start off with a good map, nearly two months later, I caved and restarted. Phew! What a relief now that I finally like where my things are. My town just looks and feel better, and I have a better idea of where I like to build PWPs. It's not perfect, but it's a good start when you like your town map.
I agree with everyone saying town map. I think it's important to have a good map that's fun to work with so you don't get demotivated halfway through creating your town. I like the idea of a Neverland themed town
