What is the Stalk Market?
The Stalk Market is Animal Crossing's version of the stock market, a real-world public market used to trade and sell commercial stock. There are only two different types of stock ("stalk") you can purchase, white and red turnips. Each require different strategies and techniques to make a profit with. The Stalk Market is run by one basic principle: buy low, sell high. You will purchase your stock Sunday, and then you will have to sell it by the closing time Saturday or else your turnips are worth nothing. You will want to sell them at a higher price than what you bought them for to make a profit. You will need money to make money. For instance, if you purchase turnips for 100 bells/share, and then sell them for 200 bells/share, for every share you sell back you'll get an extra 100. Imagine if you bought 1000 shares - that's a lot of bells!

White Turnips vs. Red Turnips
As aforementioned, there are two different types of stock you can invest in, white turnips or red turnips. You can buy white turnips from Joan on Sunday from 6 AM to 12 PM. She sells them in multiples of ten. Time travelling backward at all results in the white turnips rotting. More info on white turnip strategy in Section C.
Red turnips are completely different and were introduced in AC:WW. Joan only sells one red turnip seed for 1k on Sunday from 6 AM to 12 PM. Once planted, seeds need watering every day or else they will rot and be deemed useless. Watering a withered plant with a silver watering can revives it: the following day it will act as if you just placed it in the ground. More info on red turnip strategy in Section D.

White Turnip Strategy
To achieve maximum profit with white turnips, save away around maybe 50k to 200k (depending on how rich you are) just in case something backfires, so you have some saving funds to back up on. If you are fully confident that you will not fail, go ahead and invest all your money, however this approach is not recommended.
Once you do that, go up to Joan and purchase as many bundles of turnips as possible. If your inventory is full but you still have money left, place it all back at your house and go again for another run. To keep her from wandering, you could always dig holes around her so she is trapped. Once you buy everything you need, wait a day.
NEVER TIME TRAVEL BACKWARDS. I believe you can time travel forward to the next day/later in the week, but never after next Sunday at 6 AM. However you decide to get to the next day, you need to go to Tom Nook and say "Check Turnip Prices."
Try to make at least a 50 bell/share profit. You can continue to choose to wait if you want it to go higher and wait for a spike (appx. 200-250+ bells/share) or use this topic. On Saturday if you still haven't sold your turnips, you need to hope for a spike or search as hard as you can for a town with a profit so you don't lose all your hard-earned bells.
