*squeaks of joy*

Wild World makes a great starting point. I started with Population Growing on the Gamecube, but the handheld systems make so much more sense for Animal Crossing.

I have Population Growing as well. But the main one I currently play is New Leaf. Though I'm already over worrying about the grass deterioration and it's only Day 2 since I restarted Rosewood (my town's name).

Clover will be two years old in November and I haven't noticed much grass wear. Paths and flowers help a lot to keep the town looking fresh. I don't think you need to be concerned about it.

I probably don't, but I don't know much about placing paths and such so I'd need to talk with someone on a forum or on Discord while they helped me lay paths down so I could learn. As for flowers....I dunno when, but I plan on doing a MAJOR landscaping project in my town that will involve placing rose beds around my town as well as making one orchard for each of the oak tree fruits and then lining my beach with coconut and banana trees at properly spaced intervals.

I want at least one rose bed of each color at the bare minimum. I'll probably put the Beautiful Town ordinance into effect too, so I can cut back on how often I need to water.

Sounds like a good plan! The Beautiful Town ordinance, in my opinion, is the best one you can enact by far. I don't even want to think about how much time I'd have to spend watering all my flowers without it. @n@

For now I'm gonna focus on getting my development permit and increasing my friendship level with Kabuki. Sounds like your town is a botanical wonderland lol.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I started a town on April 4th and played daily. By May 5th I could see how the grass had faded where I took my daily route to shake trees and whatnot. No wear through to dirt at that point, but I thought that might give you an idea of what to expect. If you're not averse to time travel, you can always try that to bring your grass back. I recently did a jump of 10 days in a different town and an old villager plot had gone from dirt to grass filling in.

My only issue with Time Traveling is if Kabuki moves away :( I don't want him to move away, as he's one of my dream villagers. But if I can get Kabuki's friendship high enough that he'll stay for a while I MIGHT consider doing time traveling with the in game clock.

I keep a log of my movers for just such reasons. I won't time travel until I've found the villager who wants to move and I either accept or deny the request. Once you've verified that, it's safe to travel. You only need to go to one date in the future and then back (rather than day by day). Check for movers on the day you travel to and then check for movers when you set the clock back.

It's not for everyone, especially if you're worried about favorites leaving, but with practice and sound advice from those who know what they're doing, it works: no one leaves (unless you want them to) and the grass comes back. Play for a bit, see if you feel the same about the grass or whatever, then decide if you want more info on how to time travel. I was scared at first, but once I got the hang of doing it safely, the game became so much more enjoyable.

That's pretty awesome.
