Hey all! I know this probably isn't the community for sports talk, but is anyone a fan of any specific sport, or team?

I love most competitive sports, from locally all the way to world level (The Olympics or leagues that feature the best athletes in the world, etc...)

I realize I am reaching here... if need be, we will take this thread towards AC fishing and bug tourneys 😆

I hate all sports but I've watched bare knuckle fights on youtube before.

Did you enjoy the bare knuckle fights?

If so, I wouldn't say you hate all sports... and honestly you chose a brutal one to enjoy 😉

They were alright sometimes. Some of them, the host was annoying. I really dislike the ones where the fighters are lazy and just roll around on the ground. PUNCH EACH OTHER 😂

You sound like a sports fan!!!! Maybe not a hardcore fan of a specific team, but rooting for them to DO SOMETHING is so much a part of being a fan 😆

I guess? Lol

Oh sometimes late at night I'll watch a X Games or motocross rerun if there's nothing else on.

I love hockey. I’m really into it. I casually follow college football and baseball.
Do you have a favorite hockey team? Or do you just enjoy it in general?

For what it's worth, I grew up adoring baseball. I later grew to love basketball and American football.

I guess I love the idea of cheering for a local team and sometimes specific athletes because they are good people in real life, and I hope they succeed.

I know a lot of people who say they "hate sports", but they choose other avenues to root for in a sports-like-way.. such as politics. They cheer for their political party like they are a part of a team and use terms Iike "we won the election"... sports fantastic say the same things when referring to their favorite teams... "we won".

I believe sports may not be for everyone, but I believe there are people who join the fanfare to be a part of something. I think that's okay! It feels good to choose a side and cheer.

Thoughts?

I like to play basketball & football so by default I like to watch NFL & NBA, more so NFL recently because NBA feels on the decline.

Teams I watch / support the most are Dolphins / Packers / Bengals?¿? Teams I dislike most are bills, bears, vikings, 49ers.

For NBA I typically watch Mavs / Nuggets & Bucks occasionally. Teams I dislike are 76ers, lakers, clippers.

Also will watch college basketball during march madness tourney & will watch the olympics when they are on.

— Pro wrestling! I prefer the older stuff (WWF, before WWE) but I do keep up with some new stuff…just not familiar with NXT, that’s all. I’ve also watched some NJPW.

—Sumo wrestling! I’ve been a fan since 2017. January tournament is coming up, and they have their first international tour (in years) October 2025. I think they will be in London?

—Horse racing (I have a love/hate relationship, as I find it fascinating to watch, but I hate how the horses are drugged.)

—Olympic sports like gymnastics, boxing, archery, fencing, table tennis, shot put, dressage, super heavyweight weightlifting

—Baseball

I have some shirts for local sports teams that I wear for comfort, not for fandom lol.

I watch UFC. I follow all episodes including the early prelim stuff.

Yes it can be brutal. However, the concept of 'lets have the best fighters on the planet fight for a title' is just something that interests me.

Of course, the fictional version of that is called WWE (and pro wrestling as a whole). Which I like and appreciate too, although I don't follow it as much.

I love sports! My favorites in order:

1. Baseball (Texas Rangers)
2. Basketball (Dallas Mavericks)
2. Hockey (Dallas Stars)

Basketball and hockey are tied for 2nd because I don't prefer one more than the other. I've been a Rangers fan since 2006, back when they were terrible, lol. I didn't put American football because I don't really like it, and it doesn't help that our local team is terrible, lmao.

I also like watching golf, tennis, and some soccer as well.

I will agree with you there with the Lakers! They are my second most disliked team, other than the Dodgers. Although the Cheifs are also right there in the mix!

I love so much of this. When did the WWF stop? I am not a fan, but I sure did love the old days with Andre the Giant, and Hulk Hogan!

I love watching horse racing, but I only pay attention for the triple crown races! Years ago, there was a horse that looked like it could win the triple crown, so I convinced my girlfriend to watch her first race. The horse stumbled out of the gate and later had to be put down. She didn't like me much for showing her that sport!

I totally agree! I have never really gotten into UFC, but I have aways loved boxing! A friend of mine at work makes great arguments for UFC over boxing... mainly, boxers can die from head trauma. According to my coworker... no UFC fighter has died in the ring. Lots of brutal injuries, sure, but no death.

Back to your point though, I love seeing the best of the best compete! Boxing hasn't done a very good job of that over the years though... for example, I am still butthurt over the fact that Mayweather and Pacuiao should have fought 7-8 years earlier in their primes. Mayweather is probably the best defensive fighters ever, but I kind of think, and I might be wrong, he ducked Pacuiao until he knew he could beat him.

It seems like the UFC is doing a much better job of putting the best fighters together. Something boxing could relearn, and get back to the glory days of big fights!

Are any of you following the NFL Playoffs?

My lifelong team,The Raiders have been bad since about 2002 😆 So, I tend to gravitate to other teams as a temporary fan (not band wagon!!)

I am now cheering for teams that either haven't won in forever (Lions, Bills, etc... )

Or a Quarterback like Lamar Jackson. He is too good not to finally win a championship.

Any team but the Cheifs... please 🙏

Is anyone else interested in the NFL Playoffs?

I'm not usually a fan of the NFL, but I'm following the Lions this year due to someone I know. I'm REALLY hoping they can make it to the superbowl and win it, but we'll see. It looks like they've also had a ton of injuries, which is unfortunate.

On the plus side, they really do seem like they could win it all this year. Unlike some other sports team not named the Cowboys *COUGH*

So many coworkers... so many Cowboys fans... COUGH... glad you can join the rest of us on the outside rooting for friends!!

Accidentally posted the wrong thing at first , haha

I just hate when the Eagles keep winning as my northern family gets really annoying about it :")

As for me, I love hockey, baseball, and football. My preferred teams are the Flyers, Phillies, and Jaguars!

Yeah, I know a LOT of people who are pulling for the Eagles, but I was personally pulling for the Rams to win that game... and they almost did in fact. I think if they took a bit more time and slowed it down on the last 3rd and 4th downs they could have converted for the first down and won it. I was cheering them on too, XD

Really just hoping the Chiefs win it all at this point. I don't really like the Eagles or Commanders, and I'm not a fan of either the Bills or Ravens either to be honest.

YES! I was rooting so hard for the Rams. My dad liked them initially before he became a Jaguars fan so they have a special place in our household. I'm going for the Cheifs atp too. Commanders/Ravens are meh for me and ever since the Bills fans trashed our parking lot and caused riots I've hated the team. I know one group of bad fans doesn't define the whole fan base or team, but it just didn't sit right with me.
