Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

I'm playing splatoon online if anyone wants to join in?

I'll join you. I'm gong to try a new weapon out so I'll probably be terrible, especially since it's a charger type weapon.... Which I've never used in battle before

I tested out my "Communication error theory" today and well, things happened as suspected. But this time I wasn't stupid enough to test it out while playing ranked lmao.

I joined a game at 2:56pm and map changes occur at 3:00pm. As soon as I got to the Rig map and we all spawned, the game kinda froze at the intro to saltspray rig, then I got the communication error around 2:58. I immediately got kicked to the news with the squid sisters. But because I normally get kicked off a second time, I played another regular at 3:01, got kicked off.

I tend to play a lot around this time and usually playing ranked and noticed it had the same pattern so ya.
The other communication errors are more rare for me if they're not around map changing time u.u

Even if I join a game at 2:53, I will get the communication error b4 the end of the game, winning or not. But the errors suck, I probably lost a total of 60 points in ranked bc of it the passed few days.

Not sure if it happens to anyone else this way or if it's more random to them.

Oh my god how do people use and do well with chargers???

I don't know, I always try to trick them and go the way they don't expect me to go (even using the ninja squid in ink ability), but they know exactly where to shoot and barely ever miss. Even when I think I'm hiding behind a wall, they still get me.

Having a good charger on your team for ranked almost guarantees a win because the other team can't focus on killing anyone else unless they want to get sniped while trying..

If you're trying to kill I would say the most important thing is being accurate since they're single fire and require a charge. Try to keep your distance from enemies and take the high ground when available. Be aware of your surroundings so that you don't get surrounded by enemy ink, otherwise you'll have a hard time making an escape. Also, don't let people get too close and if they do, it's probably better to retreat than try to kill them. Also try to stay near your team, that way people will often focus on your team mates whilst you line up a shot.

For chargers with a faster charge, a good tip is to fire a shot so that an enemy will end up stuck in your ink (you'll need to use your own judgement on where to fire). This will allow you time to recharge and shoot them whilst they're moving slower in your ink. Slower chargers usually result in the enemy painting their way out before you recharge, so it's better to just try and shoot them directly and take the chance of missing.

For spreading ink I can only really talk about the kelp splatter since it's the only one I've done well with for coverage. Just keep shooting everywhere (as you usually would) but make sure to keep regularly throwing down sprinklers as they will contribute a lot to your points. On a map like Port Mackerel be smart about it and put sprinklers on top of the moving trucks for more coverage, or on top of the moving platform on Saltspray Rig.

When you put down a sprinkler, leave. The sprinkler will paint for you, so painting that area with your gun is counter productive. It's also best to put it in an area team members probably won't paint. Once you throw down a sprinkler, they stay there until they're either shot, you die or you throw down a new one, so they're otherwise permanent.

Thanks for the tips! I might try using one that charges faster. I tried the E-liter and I believe it takes the longest to charge, so that's probably why I did horribly.

I just tried the Splattscope and whoa is it fun. It's really hard to hit if you suck at aiming but it's so satisfying getting all these OHKOs.

Yea, when I use the E-liter I just go entirely defensive because of the charge time, though it's extra long reach can be really useful. It's great for ranked Arowana Mall :3

I didn't like the chargers at first. It's only when I decided to use a more 'damaging' weapon in ranked that I started to enjoy it since I wasn't concentrating on trying to get coverage. They're really fun when you get used to them though :D

I love the noise when you hit somebody with a charger. It's like a piece of metal slamming into place or something. It's just such a satisfying sound :D

My God, those ranked battle points, especially when you work out the other team so hard.

- - - Post Merge - - -

Also, did not know both teams could get points; thought it was always winner takes all.

wow i cant wait to play 52747326 games in Urchin Underpass until the RNG finally decides to chose Kelp Dome!!!

Ooh is there a new map out ugh no one ever tells me stuff

I'd join one of y'all but I don't have y'all added lol

I'm not sure whether it's just because it's a big map or whether I'm just not used to it yet, but I'm finding it really hard to come across anybody on it.

Yeah, I find I'm wandering around alone a fair bit. Maybe because no one yet knows a best route for it, so there isn't anywhere players naturally congregate yet?
I like rolling around the big area though.
