What weapon and how did you usually get points? I never managed to actually placed first on the team, but we still won a lot of games and I placed second a lot. I mainly went for covering the stage over kills.
I'm definitely buying this game now.
So it came back up for an extra hour. WOW that was actually pretty fun. Normally I don't end up liking competitive games like this too much (ESPECIALLY shooters), but this seems to be unique enough for me to actually want to play.

I never even tried that. With the Splatshot Jr I just kept backing away and firing. I don't see how rollers can get you aside from a surprise attack.
Rollers are actually pretty good at being sneaky and jumping out with surprise attacks.
Although yeah, Splattershot Jr is actually really good at combatting the Rollers. Just back away and fire and you've won, unless they're already in your face (which should rarely happen).
Trying to combat a Charger as a Roller is a lost battle, though. ;< Unless you can get close to the Charger somehow...

I let my brother play, so I didn't get to play. It's still fun watching him play though.
Rollers are pretty good. I can surprise attack people a lot, though I've noticed a increase in people using Splattershot Jr.

I used the splattershot jr. The key is to not focus on covering every little bit, but to take large amounts of their territory and move on, even if theres still a little bit there it would get you more points if you went to a different space. When I used the roller, the highest I got was 1406, I think I got about 20 kills that game

Thanks! I should have mixed it up, but instead I just used the Splattershot the whole time.
Yeah I don't hink the splattershot is that useful imo, the bombs aren't very effective and although you can do multiple of them they don't cover much space. The bubble for the jr is extremely useful to turn the tides.

I don't know about other weapons, but splat chargers slow you down when charging, and they take a little time to charge up. So the only option is to try to run away, which usually leads you into a dead end if you're in the thick of things.
If you try to run away and shoot, you'll probably be dead before you've charged, and you'll most likely miss anyway since you're a moving sniper firing point blank at a moving target with less than a second (if that) to spare for aiming. And if you do what Nintendo advises and jump over them, they can usually circle back on you before you can charge and position yourself correctly.
Obviously, you shouldn't find yourself in that situation to begin with, but if somebody sneak-attacks you it's very hard to avoid getting killed.

I tend to circle around people and attack from behind. This round whenever I noticed people shooting at me I fled to roll another day and ended up very rarely being taken out. ~ only really if a lucky shot happens to land where I am as I flee, or once I turned and went straight under a roller that was following my path.
I actually spent more of todays round being tactical and picking my fights, and ended up getting over 1000 in most matches, lead for my team every match and managed some great kill scores. 13-2 was my best! Though 3 or 4 of those were people landing a super jump on my roller. xD Got a lot more into the game this time though, really excited for Friday!
It's all about range, really. I was on a sniping perch in Walleye warehouse during the first testfire, and a roller killed me by spitting/throwing/whatevering paint onto the platform I was on

Woah, I think I actually landed with players that are actually tough to beat. Most of them had Splattershot Jr. and their use of shield is so effective that they caused me a lot of trouble. And they're also very laggy, which lead me to many stupid deaths. I've seen one that actually scaled a pipe wall on Saltspray Rig that I thought it was there for decoration. At two occasions, we couldn't go to a large chunk of the stage's area, even though I did contribute a lot on my team!

Idk if it was luck or if they meant to do this, but somebody threw a bomb, ran in as I was charging my shots to reclaim the place it covered, and killed me. Epic mind games.
I rate this game 7.8/10, it's great but has too much ink.
