Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

So I caved and got Splatoon, and I'm gonna play it on the weekend. First I gotta get this essay finished....

I just got the good strats for Arowana and Underpass, invade that bass(e) and cause 1-2 people to chase me around while team takes mid or joins me. Only played 7 ranked games so far and I consider turf wars to be much funner.

tbf, that's my usual strategy for turf wars. Get to the other teams base and be a nuisance and hope the rest of my team can handle the rest of the stage. And just hope I last long enough being a distraction for it to turn tides.

It sucks when they've not been doing anything the whole time you were in their base lmao

Yeah, too often do I find they've floundered around my base and are seemingly dancing around a pillar on the map despite me knowing roughly where the other team are.

Since I've failed at it so many times, my bro killed the final boss for me.

....
He forgot the scroll, he's gonna go try and do it again. Rollers, here I come, one level away now.

Wait, so what does the August update do? I'm kinda late to the party but it sounds interesting c:

Ranked battles would screw the whole system if you could join friends. The purpose is so that you join a game with people at your skill level. If you could join your friends, im sure there would be someone inviting an A into a C group and smashing everyone. It would basically be the luck of who got the highest person on their team. Ranked turf wars would be nice, but normal turf wars wouldn't be as popular I guess.

Not necessarily though. You figure like MK8 your rank doesn't really determine skill as a C- could easily dominate over an A rank player. It's all about how lucky you are in the long run.

It's gonna add friend rooms so you can have friend-only matches. C:

Just in case anybody was still wondering or was unsure about 're-skilling' items at Spyke (I've not really seen anybody mention it, only ask about it):

I just tried swapping out skills on an item with all 4 skills. The first/primary skill on the item remains untouched, that's permanent. The three sub skills all get randomized when you 're-slot' them, rather than just changing one specific skill you don't like.

I tried it on an item that had crappy skills anyway (my precious goggles that are now useful!) so I didn't really lose anything. It seems possible to get an item with the exact skills you want, you're just gonna have to hand over a lot of cash and hope RNG works in your favor.
