Splatoon Splatoon General Discussion (HYPE THREAD)

Isn't graffiti randomly determined by miiverse drawings tho, not chosen by Nintendo

I know most of it is. I can't remember since I only looked at it and though "well, that's nice"but this one looked like it was supposed to be there. I would have to go and check the spot to make sure though.

Don't you just love when you get an ability upgrade that compliments another? Just got an item with Special Saver AND Special Charge Up.

Which reminds me- are you negatively impacted when you combine the same abilities?

They still stack I believe, but the overall effectiveness is reduced each time.

Interesting. Don't get me wrong, I want a variety of abilities, it's just one of my items got a Strength bonus twice and I was wondering about that.

I wonder if they'll add an option to manually change an item's abilities later on? I like decent abilities but I also like to look good, y'know?

Yea, I've got about 4 'special duration' skill ups altogether that unlocked on stuff I was using xD I honestly don't see that much of an improvement with the stat boosting skills though, so I'm not too worried.
I would say try not to stack more than 2 or 3 of something though because diminishing returns will eventually cause more skill ups of a certain thing to be pretty worthless. I say 2 or 3 to be safe since I don't know the numbers.

I think there's a way to change the skills on items already. I know you can add skills to stuff at level 20 when you talk to Spike, but I've not had the money to really look at this properly yet to see if you can choose, so don't take my word on it!
I do hope you can mix and match though, I really want to wear my otherwise useless kitty cat sweater :3

Yep, this is true. Also the main ability / the first one is more effective than the other ones.

Oh, I didn't know that!

I think the stuff on my first slots are all 'skill skills' rather than stat boosts though. Are those always in the first slot?

Also, update is out now!

There's only one new map available to play right now though -.-

What were you expecting? The Nintendo Direct clearly stated one new map and one new weapon tonight.

I didn't watch the direct.

Gave up half way through my first ranked battle.

Fighting over the middle like we're supposed to be and wondering why we're losing so hard....Turns out two members of my team were still at our base painting it all like a regular game...

AHHH we just barely got a KO with a second to spare gah this is intense.

I think this game is really underrated as far as reviews go. The best rating I saw for it was an 8/10 and the others ranged from a 7-8/10.

Damn, I've done it again...Left it too long to go to bed -.-

Most reviews for it are in progress since the entire game isn't really out yet. Consider what we have right now 'early access'.

Aside from that, 8/10 is a still a good score. The only real problem is that reviewers give out 9's and 10's so liberally these days that anything less is considered a failure.

It's likely to do with the lack of content in general.

The base game at release had: 5 Maps, 30 ish weapons, and 1 mode, as well as a 27 level Single player. Plus, over half of the content has been locked (9 maps, x weapons, 3 modes). As an overall score once everything's release, it probably will deserve a much better score.

I hope they add in friend rooms or something so you can avoid all these OP level 25 Japs.

The weird thing about tonight's update is that the weapon and area that were added to the mix didn't actually came from an update data, but it is already included in the game's software. I believe that the August DLC will be likely appearing in form of patch.
