Splatoon Splatfest info Vid/Maps

Weeks ago I heard about a festival event that will happen and now there's a video regarding it, so it's nice to get a better idea of what it'll be like through this. (Looks like everything occurs at night, even when playing turf wars)


Choose a side:
NA - Dogs Vs Cats
EU - Rock Vs Pop,
Japan - Rice Vs Bread
Japan- Udon Vs Soba

"Japan’s new Splatfest is once again focused on food, promoting the Maruchan brand of instant noodles. Players will have to choose between the Red Fox (udon) and Green Tanuki (soba)."

Depending on what side you choose, you'll get a temporary shirt for it.

Current known dates:
Japan - June 13 6PM through June 14 6PM.

The second Japanese Splatfest - 3 PM on July 3rd and runs for 24 hours

Europe - Starts at 6pm UK / 7pm CET on 4th July and runs for 24 hours

North America - Starts at midnight Pacific / 3am Eastern on 4th July and runs for 24 hours

Splatfest will have it's own ranking system that rewards you in super sea snails, winning team gets an additional sea snail when the event is over.

Curious to see what sides you guys will pick, so feel free to post which one depending on where you live!

Picture of the voting area for japan. Confirmed it's June 13th for Japan and two weeks for NA. Not sure about other regions.
But looks like we'll all have different choices depending on where you live.

Everyone I know that plays splatoon in NA are picking Cats, but I'll be going Dogs since they're my preference and I own two.

Eh, it only lasts a day? I thought it would last over the weekend or something. I do like how the levels are at night. I think they should have implemented a day/night system already just to mix the feel of the stage. That's one thing Destiny did right at least.

I can't say I hate cats, it's just I don't see many human loving-kind cats. So I gravitate towards dogs, but the cats I do see that were raised friendly are the sweetest things ;u;

A sunset + night time imo would be better since we've seen enough clear day and they have festival lights going on.
I expected a week, but I was wrong. I don't like how NA is 6AM because that means I won't really play on the 21st, just more towards night time on the 20th. Japan is PM apparently which would be better for me if ours was too.

Nice, you'll definitely enjoy Splatoon! I'd lean more towards rock too, but the squid sisters give off a pop vibe and they're so adorable. Looks like Eu dates aren't really confirmed as much as the other two, but it sounds correct since each region takes up the remaining weekends this month!

Pretty sure it's regional. I'm guessing you'll still be able to play World Wide, but since everyone has different dates for Splatfest it would be odd to go against people who aren't participating.

It just reminds me of that thing from Smash where you can fight as a certain selection of characters and there's a pie chart to show you what group did the best.

Since I read somewhere that the splatfest will have it's OWN ranking system (assuming an option will be added along with regular battles and the normal ranked), then yes it will be regional since they're not all happening at the same time. But if you wanted I think you'll still be able to play regular turf wars but that probably won't count towards the event and super sea snail rewards.

I could be totally wrong though, either way I can't wait :

Probably gonna end up picking rock. I'm so looking forward to this as the trailer makes the event itself look like fun. ^_^ Also looking at the trailer, it seems like some fo the ink colours apparently glow or are at least extremely bright when it's night time, which I love.

From what I've read yea, Australia should be sharing splatfest with Europe. (especially if you were able to vote pop vs rock)
I normally see them get paired with europe for other online game-related stuff too.
