Chester asked for a spider. I have yet to catch one.
I know they appear by shaking trees, but how often do they spawn and do they spawn during the rain?

I don't believe you have to shake the trees, you just have to whack at em. Even if I'm wrong, just open your gates, no bees will spawn.

Yes, I think you can just whack your tree. If you shake a tree and one comes down and you miss it, you can just whack the tree on that side with your net and you'll catch it.
