Sonic the Hedgehog General Discussion

So since there's so many old and new Sonic games out I thought I'd make a general discussion for it. I'm not sure if there's any other Sonic fans here, but I love the video games.

Right now I'm stuck on the fifth and final world of Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed, but I plan to return to it soon (The races and challenges get really hard at that point)

I just now unlocked zone four on Silent Forest (the fifth world) of Sonic Lost World. I'm planning to beat it soon and move onto the sixth world.

Has anyone bought and played Sonic and Mario at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic games? I've played all the Olympic Sonic and Mario games before it, but I'm waiting till Christmas day to get it. Does it have more improvements and fun stuff to do than the last game in the series?

Scourge the Hedgehog here. Though Princess Sally Acorn is a close second, followed by Bunnie Rabot; and then Tails 'Miles' Prower.
I've been reading the comics online.. still can't believe Sally was.. well.. I won't say in case somebody is reading the comics and hasn't reached that point yet.
And as for favorite episodes... any of the Sonic SatAM series episodes are good. There isn't one I didn't enjoy enough to watch the series 5 or 6 times thus far. x3 [I'm a bit of a Sonic nutcase ^_^]

Ooh, a Sonic thread. My first Sonic game (and my first video game) was Sonic 2 for the Genesis and it's my favorite classic Sonic game. My favorite Sonic games are Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2.

The series changed a lot after the Adventure games and I lost interest after Sonic '06 (which is actually a pretty good game to me). Sonic Rush for the DS was pretty good, but that's portable. I HATE Secret Rings, Black Knight, Unleashed, Colors, Generations, etc. I don't play the spinoff titles like the Olympic Games or that racing thing.

My favorite characters (in no particular order) are Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Blaze, Espio, Vector, and Silver. I can't pick a single favorite lol.

And I used to collect the comics around 2005-2006.

EDIT: OH I forgot to mention Lost World. I played the 3DS Demo and the WiiU Demo, WiiU one was ok but I REALLY enjoyed the 3DS one. I might be picking this one up. I love the heavy inspiration from Sonic X-Treme. That reminds me, I haven't talked to Chris Senn lately.

My favorite sonic characters are Knuckles, Vector, Espio, Silver, and Nack the Weasel. I wish the games were more like Archie Sonic. Archie Sonic can write plot and stories so much better than Sega can. Though Sega did a great job with Eggman's personality in Sonic Lost World (which was the only well written thing about that game).

Despite my criticisms I'm a huge Sonic fan. I only critique and complain because I know they can do better (well they is general. I'm not all that confident in Sega after that let down in Sonic Lost World). I have some Sonic Figures and stuff (if I could afford and find more, I'd have more of them), and a Sonic T-shirt. My Sonic the Hedgehog fan status is actually how I really met and got to know my boyfriend nearly 10 years ago.

Who's excited for that Sonic Boom CGI show they were talking about? I'm excited for it. And unlike most people I actually like the fact that from the looks of the silhouette they made Knuckles look like he's strong enough to destroy rocks with his fists. However... It looks like they've taken Amy's dress away from her and dressed her up like a tomboy. I hate the idea of that. If they wanted a tomboy character they could have made up one, not altered the look of a female character.

Though I also worry they're turning Knuckles into the dumb muscle character. 9_9

How can -anyone- like Silver?! He's a bloody joke at best! I can understand fans of Shadow, because he's pretty awesome; but Silver? Come on! All he ever seems to do is screw up somehow!

I'm glad to hear everyone has different things they like about the series. I've been a Sonic fan for awhile but never really played the games on my own until Unleashed. That's probably why I don't hate the newer games as well, but I've played the older ones a little bit and like them too.

I'm probably a Blaze person. Probably. The other characters are...meh. Silver is alright. But I don't know the whole character roster so I hesitate to comment. Any links to a composite image of all the characters?

I was never hugely into Sonic games. They felt like Mario games but less fun and interesting. It felt like a grind more than anything.

+1 for both of you for SatAM/Archie Sonic universe love...so much better imo, much darker and has a superior story.

As for the games, I like almost everything up until Sonic Adventure 2: battle, after that it's pretty.....meh. I'm thinking of getting Colors though and maybe Lost World as they seem to have gotten decent reviews, but then, they've also got some negative reviews, so really, I'll just have to see for myself. Generations was OK, I liked everything about it until they started using levels from the later post-Adventure 2: Battle crappy Sonic games.....the level designs and flow of those games is just atrocious and they should've left them and stuck w/ everything Adventure 2: Battle and before. If they had done so it would have been a much better and maybe even a near-perfect Sonic game!

For the record I am BEGGING and DYING to see a game based on the Archie/SatAM universe....would be SOOO freaking cool, I absolutely LOVE Sally and Bunnie..<3

I roleplay Sonic with my boyfriend and we've had a story canon and plots (and original characters) going for almost a decade now. When I say I like a character, it's because I like their design or the possible potential they have. Also Silver's a derp, but the poor guy means well. He's just young and stupid.

I've been playing Sonic games since Genesis. Now, that doesn't mean I liked Sonic back then. I was horrible at Sonic 2 (I'm still horrible at the old sonic games. I've never been past the second or third zone in most of them!), and didn't start liking Sonic until I rented Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. xD So that's my favorite game and I'll always love it. I also seem to be one of the few people who liked SOnic Heroes. Sure, I wished it had Chao in it but dang it I love Espio and Vector and this was the first time I got to see them! I still miss Vector's Heroes voice actor...

I can understand that. Design-wise, Silver is one of the more creative hedgehog designs. And I've never beaten Sonic 2 myself, but I have managed to each the DeathEgg stages, which are the final stages... [Silver Sonic is hard as hell to get passed, and if you do; then you gotta fight Robotnik with his giant robot; which I've never been able to figure out how to damage].

And I'm proud to say I own Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for the Gamecube myself. That game is the sole reason I still have my Wii currently lol Well.. that and SSB Brawl. My sister would kill me if I got rid of the Wii and SSB Brawl xD (CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT SSB GAME! F****** MEGA MAN IS IN IT!)

Anyways, I personally don't have any favorites, although my brothers would love to disagree (Tails all the way! Woot woot!). I tried to do a blindfolded speedrun of the original Sonic on the Genesis... Legitimately made it to Star Light Zone, then horribly failed. It was a long lived celebration.

I destroyed him with Knuckles. Just glided through it constantly. Knuckles is OP because of his glide making him IMMUNE to damage.

And I bet I can make all of you Sonic and Tails fans jealous of me. I have plushies of their ORIGINAL looks from the Sega Genesis sitting up on my shelf. I'll get a picture of them later

Chao are the best Sonic characters. Skipped Lost World and most of the Wii titles as they're crap (I got Colors though), most Sonic games I play now are on other systems.
