I don't know if this is just a word that was commonly used during the old Egyptian days, but I was studying some Egyptian history earlier in class today and when I saw the name Tutankhamen, I noticed the name Ankha in the middle of his name. Tutankhamen. :o Pretty cool, huh? Or maybe it's not cool. Maybe I'm behind in finding this out, though I haven't seen anyone else mention it before.

Neat little coincidence! And according to the wiki she was named after that hieroglyph, wonder if the ankh in tutankhamen also signifies life~

Cool, I didn't know that. I knew there was something suspicious about her name, this makes you want Ankha now right?

Interesting! I just assumed she was named after this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankh

On the Animal Crossing New Leaf Wiki, it mentions the Ankh symbol, which may very well be where the name actually came from. But that word alone may have been thrown into the mix of the name Tutankhamen. After all, a lot of people just refer to him as King Tut today. So maybe it was like the name Jonathan, where you can use the name Jon by itself, but also take out the Jo and just spell Nathan. That's just my guess, though.

That's what I was wondering, too.

Yeah, it kind of does. xD

Well, Tut was originally named Tutankaten, but had to change it to "amun" after his father/predecessor died because the Egyptian priesthood seized power again and tried to crush Akenaten and Neffertiti from memory for all eternity. Ha! Didn't work. His wife, the Queen Ankhesenpaaten (who I have borrowed her name for for over a decade online) had to change her name to Ankhesamun (or various other spellings - depends who writes the particular book you look into, tho).

Iirc, his throne name was something like Nebkerure, or something like that. Too lazy to look it up.

I just assume that Ankha is named for the Ankh. She is lovely!

Pretty cool~ I think all villagers have some sort of little meaning to their name

Good source of history I should remember. Thanks for that! :)

They do. Some of them don't make any sense to me. Hans, for example. Some are pretty obvious, though.

Wow, did you really go to Egypt and go inside a Pyramid? That sounds cool and pretty dangerous.

It isn't really :) Tourists can visit the Great Pyramid inside, at least the sections that are open to the public. I don't know if that's still possible or not though. I think that's what that user was referring to, I doubt they broke in and wandered around Indiana Jones style.

Oh, well that's good enough to know.

Even though that'd of been more fun clearly.

I went inside yes, they have an opening but it costs a lot of money! It is very narrow and tiny air space, but it was so worth it. At the end there is a tall open square room with an open stone tomb thats partially broken. It was an amazing day. One of the men at the end gave us the chance to see the real way the Egyptians use to go in, but of course we had to tip him in the end (they like and always want tips). :)

What was it like in the pyramid?
Very narrow, you can't stand, and its very squishy and not enough room. There are a lot of steps too and it takes a while to get up... It's so worth it. <3 There was a lot of carvings in the wall. I was upset to see some people had slightly graffiti it.

That is cool, and makes sense :D
In my game her name is Kleo and I am pretty sure it is because Kleopatra^^
I have read, that it is the same procedure in other languages when it comes to naming the cute cat!^^

The egyptians also worshipped cats like gods so, maybe this is related?!
