I can provide a lot of insight on this whole situation. Everyone has only heard half of the story, just select pieces to make it appear in a certain way. Allow me to fill in the gaps. I've been in this GroupMe chat for about 2 years. At it's peak, we had about 215 ACCF Wiimmfi players in it. A couple weeks ago, Kyle joined this chat. Everything was going fine, until Kyle posted a picture of one of our beloved longtime members with a caption stating that this person is "a pedo and will rape you." We were horrified to see that, and immediately banned him from the chat. Then he began to direct message several people, including me, asking to be let back in. We made it clear that under no circumstances would we let someone back into the chat who had attacked a member in that way. Instead of responding in a calm, rational manner, Kyle proceeded to spam our DMs with a tirade of expletives and foul language. So, we all blocked him and tried to move on. However, Kyle was able to exploit some flaws in the GroupMe system. Our chat was open to anyone, all you had to do was click a link to join, and there are no moderation controls, so any user can remove anyone except the chat creator. A few days after we banned him, a new account, called 'David' joined the chat. We were skeptical but still welcomed this account with open arms as we do with any new member. It didn't take long for us to realize that this 'David' was just Kyle again. He attempted to attack the same user as before and we banned him again. Well, that seemed to set him off. Over the next week he created dozens of new accounts to join and spam the chat with things I would never dare to repeat. Some of our members had to sacrifice their own time to stay on watch. He managed to make the chat unusable, and we had to leave. Finally, the chat owner had to deactivate the link, rendering that chat basically worthless. Then he started adding us to various chats he created in an effort to keep attacking and spamming us. Now I will give him some credit because a few days ago, he created another chat and we've been having a pretty civil discussion about his actions and he has apologized, but we still haven't made a decision about whether or not we want to let him back in the chat. We're still trying to figure out if we even have a chat to go back to after what he did.
Keeping the above in mind, let me address what has been said in this topic.

One way was contacting his mother on Facebook, and a member did send a friend request and some messages. We also found an address to either send a letter or, as a last resort, send a member over to discuss with his parents what had happened. Keep in mind Kyle is only 11, so we wanted to go to the parents rather than him. Was it wrong to do this? We don't believe it was. We wanted to protect the group that had taken years to build.
"I'm getting a gun." Kyle did personally threaten to shoot me. It was then that we used the information previously gathered to look into our legal options. Had Kyle not reached out to us to civilly discuss his actions, we probably would have contacted the proper authorities.
We have hundreds of screenshots of everything that he has said and done. If anyone would like to view these please send me a message. We have no ill-will towards Kyle, provided he leaves us alone and doesn't attack any of us again.

My advice to you guys would be to just disallow him completely from using your chat and be done with it. When I was 11, I was a little brat, and said things I didn't mean for attention. He will learn either way, but getting his parents involved and causing drama that way will just scar him. That's just my take on it.
If he continues to do stuff like this, even after apologising, it's time to get his parents involved. If not, let it go. That's what I'd do in your position.

Holy crap. Sounds like he put your group in a really pretty pickle. I think you should look into contacting his parents if he starts again to be honest.
Thanks for the feedback. We are hanging onto the parental information just in case. I agree with what Bowie said about keeping him out of the chat, but the only issue we run into is that GroupMe doesn't have a way to completely ban someone. We'd like to keep our group as open as possible so we can find new ACCF wiimmfi players, but because we've seen how Kyle can create an unlimited amount of accounts to keep rejoining and spamming after we remove him, we're still weighing our options.

That's right! Plus, you can't delete comments. You need to either edit, or contact the staff to delete it altogether. And why didn't you tell us the truth in the first place?
