Someone copied/stole my dream town (AHS)

That's horrible! I've spent countless hours on Canaan and I know I'd be utterly heartbroken if I found out someone copied it. Anyone who would do that clearly doesn't understand the purpose of AC:NL and shouldn't be allowed to play the game at all. Again, I'm really sorry this happened. I'll be sure to visit the real AHS, not the phony hacked one. I know you're upset now, but just remember yours is the original and the best.

Wow, that's so lazy and disrespectful and entirely against the point of the game. D; I didn't even know people could do that. Leaving up the sign that leads to your tumblr is just absurd as well. Hopefully they have a change of heart or something and take it down cuz that really sucks!

The idiots forgot to change it.

People were sending me email, from their site, that I went to, and was shocked to see it was MINE! O_O

I'm very sorry that this happened to you. I don't understand how people could do such a
thing. It's one thing if you want to get some inspirations from other towns for your town,
but just copy someone's town and called it your own? Big No Go. Why do this people even
play this game when they have no creativity or just to lazy to build up their own town?

It's also dumb that there is no option to report such thieves in the game itself...

I've never used the DA function and the Dream Suite PWP is only to improve Main street's visual appeal but I detest a thief and sympathize with your agony. Also, Athelwyn, I do admire your verbal restraint. EDIT: Forgot to ask how you discovered this situation.

I was going to visit AHS (my town) in the Dream Suite, and searched for it by name rather than DA. The stolen version was there, with mayor Pib-, so I visited, thinking it was just another AHS fan's town. That was a nasty surprise...

Can you delete your da and put it up again? would that give you a new da?
Maybe we can all visit the fake da and say "it was awful', I think if they're enough negative feedback, they take it down.

Thankfully, my own DA is fine. The fact that my town got stolen doesn't affect the legit dream of my town. Even if I did delete my DA and get a new one, the thief would still have the stolen version of my town--and then mine would even be listed below theirs in the Dream Suite.

I do think that towns get removed if enough people report it as being a bad dream. Hmm.

I agree that it isn't copying but stealing. And I am both surprised that this is even possible and shocksd that it is happening! There should be a way to report a town! I think about my own towns , which have original themes, and the possibility of them getting stolen. And that thought is devastating as I spent a good amount of time making them.

It is stealing. I was, perhaps, being too nice when I titled my thread.
I think dream town stealing is pretty rare these days, and I'm guessing the reason mine was a target was that--besides being a niche theme--it's been featured in a bunch of videos on YouTube, which has been surprising. A lot of people have seen it, which increased the chances that one bad apple was going to spoil it for me.

God, that sounds absolutely dreadful. I didn't even know you could steal towns like that, it was never something that even crossed my mind. I know it isn't much, but I'm going to give you a visit to you DA.

I'll be looking to see your town first when I unlock the dream suite again. However, what I can say, unfortunately, even with the idea that it is intellectual property if of all your designs and art within it, there probably is likely nothing that can be done about it even if Nintendo wanted to.


It's disgusting how lazy people are to say that it's completely their's, to think stealing is okay. The entitlement in this world and lifetime is absolutely crazy.

Things like this is frustrating, and all you can do, is hope that people won't continue to do so hacking other towns with the intent on stealing.

Unfortunately, it does make it hard since Nintendo offers a random-address visiting, too. I hope things can happen to even begin mending this. You are right to be angry. You are right to be so frustrated.
