I've been visiting the museum and reading the displays. It would pan to show nothing for certain bugs.. I don't know if this is normal.. but I've checked during different times of day, just in case.. but they still don't show up! For example, the rainbow stag. It literally isn't there! Or the cyclommatus stag, or drone beetle, or great purple emperor... or the horned elephant. Etc etc! Please, this is really "bugging" me (it is always time for puns, even during hard times like these). Anyone with these bugs, please check your museum and tell me if they're missing. Has Blathers killed them because he hates bugs so much and think that I wouldn't notice? Well I did! This mystery is really beetle-ing me over the head! I must know. So read the plaques where those bugs are, and tell me if they are where they're supposed to be.. thank you in ant-vance.

Like my comment on another thread, have you checked the huge tree on the northeast part of the room?

Because some insects show up in there rather than their supposed area.

I have seen some there.. but if they're displayed there, why are their signs elsewhere.. like are they ever actually displayed by their signs cuz I've never seen them there.. and it just feels weird that the sign doesn't pan over to them :(

I think it's intentionally done to keep the insects on varying locations. Insects that appear there are random. If you notice, there's a huge sap on the tree trunk. And I think it's a canteen/cafeteria of sorts for the beetles.

But I do agree that the camera not panning there sucks. Unlike the tiger beetle which the camera follows wherever it ends up hopping.

Yeah. I guess I just expected the camera to pan up to wherever they were.. since it does with most other things, even in the fish exhibit. Do you know if they ever hang out on their actual displays? I love the idea of the tree being a sort of a hang out spot for them but I really want to be able to see them on display when I read the signs, at least sometimes.

If that huge tree is empty aside from the spider, the beetles should be on their default tree displays.

Now, if the huge tree is empty AND the beetles are not on their respective displays, that could be a problem. I have caught all available bugs since March and I haven't encountered any vanishing bugs.

I went in my museum at 3AM and saw all the beetles on the BIG sap tree. Two of them were fighting (I forgot which ones) and the other beetles were kinda surrounding them watching like spectators.

The purple emperor butterfly was resting on a pine tree near the top to the left.

I think the game has it so that certain bugs are more active during parts of the day than others. They also don’t necessarily stay in their “display” area unless they’re like caged in (the orchid mantis for example). I was also surprised to see that the nocturnal creatures were definitely much more active (tarantula and scorpion were moving about instead of hiding like I usually saw them)
