So without being overdramatic about how insanely claustrophobic the maps in this game makes me, I'm just gonna get right to the point. This is a map of Catsby.

Personally, I think it's a pretty good map. Or, at least, better than the other ones I've chosen, but that's not really what the post is about. I'm mainly just looking for advice on where I should put my cafe in the future. The reason for that is because I'd like to eventually put down something more rustic and nature-orientated near the campsite, while I want the cafe to be closer to my villagers. I want to create a sort of "downtown" area full of people and businesses, and maybe a junglegym or park type area all in the same vicinity of the map.
But, today, when I put down the plot for the custom design sign, so that I could preserve the spot while I wait to unlock the cafe, I started feeling like the spot I picked wasn't going to work. I keep thinking that if I try to put it there Isabelle's just gonna tell it's too close to Fauna's house or the river, and I don't really like it's sort of right on top of the bridge I just put in. So here I am.
Do you guys have any ideas on where a good spot for the cafe would be, and if so, would you mind sharing them?
TIA.

Thanks but that wasn't exactly what I asking xD
I don't plan on resetting this town. I'm just trying to figure out where the important PwPs should go.
I do appreciate your feedback, though.

What about to the left of the pond on the lower half of the map? Could be interesting for landscaping, and you still have villagers living down that way.

Sorry, didn't notice. Also who are the other 3 villagers?

I would recommend the Roost going to near a house. The roost looks rather nice right next to a home. I put mine right next to Hans'. You can visit my DA to see how close you can put it to a home, as it almost right beside his.

Also since it is supposed to look more natural, I suggest the Classic Police Station.

This was my first thought too. Seems like a good place to put it. :)

I was planning on putting the police station there, but if I put the cafe there, there should be more than enough room I think. Then I could put the police station next to Fauna's house where I wanted the cafe to go originally without much of a problem. I think.

It's cool. Honest mistake. My other three villagers are Diva, Nibbles, and Chadder
I agree that would be cool as well, but whenever I try to put a PwP near a house, I get told off by Isabelle for it. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it.
Yeah, I've been debating about which police station to get since forever ago. Personally, I don't like the way either of them look. I feel like the classic station is too country, but it'd probably go better with the Fairytale buildings and the other themes. Whereas the modern police station just doesn't go with anything in the game.

Thanks all your advice, guys. I'm going to have to take a while to think this over. Just out of curiosity, though, does this game mess with your depth perception as badly as it does mine? I always think, "Aww, man, I've got so much space for stuff!" Then I start walking around and realize it's the exact opposite. Does that happen to you?

I like your map. I like when the river goes across horizontally like that cutting the town in half...it just makes it so there's 2 even chunks of land, instead of a weird small bit somewhere. IDK if that made sense, but anyway, I like yours. I don't think it's as claustrophobic as you think, because when you look at it like this, it looks like there's no room, but don't worry about Isabelle, I've had her squeeze things into the tiniest spaces. You just have to be patient and spend a lot of time with her, literally moving a tiny bit in different directions until she lets you. Trust me, it's a headache, but it's worked for me. It helps if you lay down some tile, so you can gauge where you're standing, where she's allowing you to build, etc.

So as for your cafe, I'd say that if you don't want to be that close to the bridge, just move a little over to the right...there's a LOT of room there. Also the area to the right of the other bridge? Or the area underneath the second bridge, to the right of the camp, but not too close to it, so you still have room for your camp area project you have in mind.

Best thing would be to draw out a scratch of the map on paper, and just place down those big pwp ideas you have. Some really basic drawing that will help you get a visual, instead of it all being in your head. Hope any of that helped. :D

I'd leave a little space in front of your cafe so you could have a little garden perhaps. :) I agree placing it somewhat near the villagers can be cute. I did that with mine and I don't regret it. good luck deciding!

With some maps, it does. My current map (similar river to yours) feels fairly roomy, even with the three alt houses I put in. The last incarnation felt cramped when I did that, even though it had a giant hunk of mainland with a small peninsula (corner river). It all depends, I suppose.
