So mushroom sprout from fruit trees or just normal trees?

I have many fruit orchards but only 3 of each normal tree (for harvesting acorns or pine cones) and I’m hoping to get ready for mushroom season! Thanks!

If its the same as New Leaf, any tree that has space around it will have a chance to spawn a random mushroom

But if i remember well , in NL mine grew everywhere not just beside trees i think, although i am not 100% sure now hehhe

also according to the official guide book, the mushroom rarity/type spawn based on your island rating
