So many cycling threads...

I love cycling and I've given away Stitches, Julian etc. However I don't have time to cycle 24/7 so I just bump my thread when I'm in the mood to give some doods away - creating multiple single threads is super annoying and tends to clutter up the forum anyway. I'd love to join another cycling thread but I don't know if I cycle often enough!

I used to sell villagers but I'm over it now. The giving spirit of this community is why I love it so much :D

I think if the cycler wants to sell their villager it's fine, as it's their choice. As long as they state that they are going to sell that specific villager quite some time before it goes into boxes I don't really see the issue. If they announced as soon as the villager went into boxes that they are up for auction then it would be kinda annoying for the people lurking the thread for the villager. I can understand when you guys say that cycling is meant to give away free villagers, but at the same time I still believe they should be considered cyclers because they are still giving dreamies to plenty of people. I don't know what else you could consider them. AucCyclers? As in people that auction off villagers every so often and cycle part of the time. If you don't like how they run their thread then it shouldn't matter to you because what they do in their thread has nothing to do with you and you have no reason to hate on them. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion but there is no reason to bash people that sell villagers on this forum or anywhere and make them feel bad for trying to earn a few bells.

This particular thread isn't about how people run their threads, tho, it is about the vast number of cycling threads. I haven't yet seen hate on this thread, so I don't understand this seemingly visceral reaction.

I agree with this. Their thread, their rules, right? If people can say, hey, no reservations, but I can make exceptions, I dont see why people can also say, most villagers are free, with the exception of these.

I'm referring to what was said on the 2nd page of the thread. It could be offensive to people who do sell villagers and cycle at the same time.

Oh, okay. *shrugs*. I think I must be too old and jaded to worry overmuch about what "could" be offensive, even tho I strive to be civil as much as possible. I think I quit walking on proverbial eggshells 30 years ago when pc-ness and such was coming to be popular. Hats off to you for your youth! (I assume you are young) and your caring nature. I care too, but have, I fear, long ago lost my patience for the thin skins everybody has seemed to have developed since the 90's. Ah well, I'll have to just accept my advanced ago as gracefully as I can! Lol!

Thank you for the clarification, tho. I think I get what you are talking about. I do wish that some viable solutions as to the actual topic of this thread would be offered, however. But it seems that even the possibility of a sub forum would not ease the congestion of the subject matter of the sheer amount of threads and their length.

I don't understand why people decline others from joining their cycling thread? But maybe they have good reasons for it

Cycling threads are great, but i wish there was a subforum for them. It would make the villager trade area cleaner. I would also love to see a subforum for all the professional shops in retail. I actually like to go to shops only most of the time, and it would be great to go to just one area.

Having said all that, tbt is way more organized then most acnl forums out there. Acc and gamefaqs is a mess in comparison.

I agree completely. While having Cycling Threads are useful to those interested in them, there are so many. I myself only like the quick Giveaway threads that last anywhere from 1 minute to a few days depending on how popular the villager is. It's quick, easy, clean, and you get a free villager out of it. I've never gotten 'cycling'.. It just seems like a long process and by the time you're able to get that villager, your slots are taken up. ;w; But never mind that, to each their own. I just wish it had a subforum category.

^ Thirded. I don't do the whole dreamie thing myself so I've not had much reason to use Villager Trading, but I like to keep one of each personality in town because of PWP requests, and on the occasions when I've needed to replace a move-out, it's been hard to find relevant giveaways - the topics get pushed down so fast.

I don't think anyone's saying people shouldn't cycle, just that it'd be nice if there was space for more threads that aren't cycling threads on there.

80% of the cycling threads are noobs and dont even know how to cycle - they always end up quitting when they realize how much work it is.

Pretty much this.

Most will be gone by the end of February, come May/June when exams come up.

I don't see anything wrong with that. If they have exams, then that's what they should be focusing on, not cycling. School is WAY more important than any game including AC. Schooling equals your future and what you do in life while AC equals something to pass time. Also if someone only wants to cycle for a few months then so be it. It's their choice and what they want to do with their thread shouldn't effect you in any way. At least they are still getting people their dreamies in the meantime. Also this is not necessarily aimed towards you, I'm just ranting. >.>

First off, that was separate from that quote.
I'm only saying that because people are complaining there are too many, and exams will cut the amount left in half.

Oh, well sorry then and like I said it wasn't necessarily aimed towards you. I was mostly talking to the person that you replied to. I should of made that more obvious. :o

No problem. Not looking to fight, so I'm not going to hold a grudge.

Too many, y'know

You are probably right. It just doesn't feel like that to me and that is likely because of my limited playing hours and the off-hours that I can play and even come to this forum.

To me, there ARE a lot of people who want to give back, but I seldom can get a Giveaway villager because I am not online at the time. So for me and others like me, having more threads means at least a CHANCE of getting a villager we really want.
