Hello everyone! I just wanted to voice my opinion about how everyone and their mother is starting a cycling thread. When I joined this forum in November, I remember there being only a few, which are the "more popular" threads as far as I know. I started one and I just didn't have fun nor the time so then I joined someone and school got in the way. So how are there so many because. I know I can't be the only one with a tight schedule...also why are there so many? I still cycle when I'm bored, but I sell the popular villagers and use the bells to donate to people or help people in auctions if I notice they really want the villager. I understand people are trying to help, which is awesome, I get that but there's a ton of threads now which I kinda find confusing to be honest.

What do you guys think? please don't take this offensively, I'm just voicing how I feel and if you feel differently, great, that's why everyone is different and special

That's why I joined Mella's thread ^~^ I didn't want to add ANOTHER cycling thread to that mess xD

That's awesome! I'm sure she appreciates the help as far as I've noticed, she seems like a super nice person :)

I don't really mind all of the cycling threads. It just means more villagers for more people. It's not really all that confusing. All you have to do is check the threads to see if they have a villager you want and if they do bookmark it so you can get back to it easily later.

I posted my comments on that forum in a thread for mods/admin to see. It is confusing in that you have to sift through to see what is available, single giveaways or auctions get lost within minutes, and people post saying "my friend wants so and so" ... someone I won't mention notorious for that. The retail board is the same. I read back through old posts and then pm people to see if they still need items.

This section has been invaluable to me.

I suppose but when it's peak hours and everyone happens to be cycling it's harder to find other treads, as Blizzard explained

I go on another site and just give them away on their Official Villager Adoption Thread.

Cycling threads are great, but i wish there was a subforum for them. It would make the villager trade area cleaner. I would also love to see a subforum for all the professional shops in retail. I actually like to go to shops only most of the time, and it would be great to go to just one area.

Having said all that, tbt is way more organized then most acnl forums out there. Acc and gamefaqs is a mess in comparison.

Oh yeah lol
I can't even find my own thread half the time on ACC lol
Sub forums would be great though. Then it'd be easier to maneuver within the larger threads

I don't mind all of the cycling threads as it allows users to get their dream villagers more easily. Though like VioletsTown said, it would be nice to have a sub-forum for them, so new and separate selling/trading/auction threads don't get bumped off of the front page constantly.

I totally agree - it's the only problem with them, the constant chatter and updates bumps them all up to the top and singular threads get shoved down super-fast. I also think a sub-forum for cycling threads would be a nice way to deal with it.

I definitely like all the cycling and everything. It's just great! But if you're trying to follow another thread or you just posted a thread, literally within minutes it could be off the first page which is kind of bothersome since you're not supposed to bump a thread for 2 hours after a post

Yeah, the subforum idea is one i read somewhere a while back, so its an idea that a lot of people like. I agree, i tried to do a giveaway a few times, i was surprised i fast i was bumped down to like page 5. Hopefully some mods are reading this, ha, ha.

80% of the cycling threads are noobs and dont even know how to cycle - they always end up quitting when they realize how much work it is. ALSO whats the purpose of cycling if youre auctioning off half the Villagers for millions of bells? Its pretty dumb...... oh well, I guess that's what people do to get tbt "famous"

(lol, no offense. I am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, theres just a lot of threads commenting on the cyclers on this site)

When I had a thread I realized it was too time consuming to work into my schedule as a daily thing. There isn't really a right way to cycle but I feel if someone has a thread and no one is taking the villagers and/or you accidentally void villagers often they may want to consider asking for advice on how to cycle well or just do giveaways but that's just my opinion...

I know there isn't a "correct" way to cycle, but many of us (I'm not trying to be a spokesperson of the cyclers) had to figure everything out ourselves. We were never given "written directions" of how to cycle, there are many threads these days asking "HOW TO CYCLE, NEED MY DREAMIES AND I NEED BELLS." I seriously can't emphasize enough how it irritates me when someone says they're a cycler, yet they're auctioning off Julian/Marshal. They're being THAT person, they're being THAT person who is selling off someones dreamie for millions of bells - which is the whole reason why cycling threads began (to avoid the whole spending billions of bells).

And a side note - many of the people "cycling" don't even cycle to give up the popular Villagers, as a friend said "No one wants your ugly leftover Villagers"

But this is not always the case
I mean for god sakes I've seen threads where they only keep 'popular ones' for auctions and then sell off the others. However I do agree that its not really confusing, the fact that people are complaining about this almost absurd.

The only cyclers I have issues with are the ones who sell the 'popular' ones and even so-so popular just to get a million out of the villager.
Other than that, if you're on topic, and having fun I really see no harm. I totally agree with your idea about bookmarking a thread if its of such importance to you. Also another idea is subscribing to the cycle threads you do like.

/micdrop

that wasnt even directed at u hype im sorry for the rant uvu

Some people, I get want to cycle to help people achieve their dreamies. That's why I started cycling. However, a LOT of people do NOT understand the amount of work that it takes to cycle and how I personally feel that most of these new threads are simply people getting into it because it's the new "thing."

The only problem that I find with the cycling sub-forum is that it will simply encourage even more new cycling threads. Like Mia said, some people are auctioning off the popular ones and only giving away the ugly villagers that almost no one wants.

Yes, they're your villagers so you can do with them as you please, but cycling isn't about selling villagers period. You're giving them away, even the popular ones. Least, that's how I've always thought of it to be.

EDIT TO ADD: Oh, forgot to add. It's also getting to the point where there are TOO many cycling threads now. Which equates to being more cyclers than non-cyclers. I've seen numerous villagers, even ones that are popular either don't get adopted as quickly or just get voided altogether.

I'm not even a "real" cycler yet as I am slow due to time constraints. But I do give away and will never sell villagers, because, as Pengutango said, it's about helping people achieve their dreamies and not about selling them. I will ALWAYS give away.

I guess it's possible that there are "too many" cycling threads, but I can't follow them because they are simply too long. Also, I am usually not online when many other people are. I miss out on a lot of giveaways, but I'll still give villagers away to those who are online when I am.

Yeah...there doesn't seem to be a perfect solution. I guess we just all have to do our best.

I also think the cycling subforum is a great idea! That way other threads stay visible too
