So I'm thinking about buying a second acnl game cartridge in order to start clean to have one town dedicated to real time play compared to my current cartridge which is all over the place in TTing and such... what are the pros and cons to doing this, note I don't have a second 3ds, so I won't be able to transfer over things easily.

Bump, please help me decide this is kind of important, haha. I just can't make a decision if I want to keep working really on my first town or not. =/

It's really up to you. Do you think you'd be able to handle two towns? I have 3-4 and it's kind of difficult managing my time between 'em all. One of the biggest pros of more than one copy, at least for me, is the ability to have more villagers. I love a lot of villagers and it's hard narrowing 'em down to 10. The additional copies helped me get dreamies for friends/myself as well.

it seems most people enjoy having two, one extra at least for cycling.

as miss marzipan said, it is up to you however since you asked for advice, i personally would not buy two unless i wanted to cycle. i invest 100% into my one little town trying to make it the way i want to, so the idea of more than one town is quite daunting. i'd end up letting one go by the wayside, which is why a cycling town is interesting since most apparently don't tend to it save for villagers.

then you'd also have to unlock everything again, make bells all over again, or continuously ask people to help you out. unnnnnnnless you have a friend who can aid you in your endeavors, that might be difficult / super annoying.

Do it. Honestly, if I was younger like you, didn't have a job and was on summer vacation from school, I'd totally get a second copy.

I have two and two consoles and love it as I can take things over from one game to the other and split the storage of rare items. I had to put them both as 'beautiful' as if your busy it is hard to get on two daily but on beautiful it doesn't really matter. Good luck

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I wanted a new town but I couldn't bring myself to delete my first one so I bought a second cartridge.

I rushed through the first town, time traveling to complete the museum in just a few weeks and experience events.

With my new town, I had to do a bit of time traveling to cycle out villagers to get an all dog town, but now that I have the villagers I want, I plan to stay on the current date and not time travel at all. This way it will be next spring before I finish my new museum and I'll have lots to look forward to!

I've already had a couple of nice people here on the forum help me transfer items from my old town to my new one, so I'm sure you won't have a problem either. Everyone here is so nice and helpful!!

Good luck!

Honestly, though, you have to consider exactly why you want a second copy. Like someone already stated, it is a lot of time investment, and if you only have one console, I think you lose a lot, insofar as what could be possible with two cartridges. I have two copies of the game, one physical, one downloaded, but I also have two consoles. I don't think I would have bought the extra copy if I didn't have another console, since my main purpose was for cycling/turnip price manip.

I've been debating getting a second copy to cycle with its so tempting but I think I need to save my money (coming for someone who just brought a ?54 gaming mouse -_-)

Up to you c:
I was also debating whether I should buy a second copy because...
1. In New Zealand, Animal Crossing New Leaf STILL costs around the $70-$85 range even after a year. NO JOKE ;-; (Here and here (on special...). So I had to fetch mine online for $50
2. I had a plan to cycle villagers, and then make a horror town :D

But then again you'd have to manage two towns at once, and I find myself to work on my second copy way more than my main (only checking up around 3 days to find out who is moving), and then starting from scratch and having to unlock everything again, pay off mortgage, etc.
I only have one 3DS XL, and two physical copies of the game
