So I just bought the family membership for NSO

I bought the family membership just so my alt characters can also play online... Is that pathetic or what? XD

Also, I just realised how shady and weird the game sharing method is on Switch. I put my boyfriend on my family membership plan so we could game share, and it just feels weird. Like it might corrupt my data. But I'm probably just paranoid.

So did anyone else buy NSO for their alt characters in New Horizons? I'm feeling a little crazy and I want to know I'm not the only one hahaha.

I got a family plan before ACNH announced the way sharing islands or alts worked. I mainly got it to share with some IRL friends because I was desperate to get them into some of the online games I played. In the end they stopped playing and I ended up gifting slots to other online friends haha. I only have 1 alt on there myself. I can't think of any more slots I'd use for myself at the moment.

I hadn't thought of that! I've already got the family membership as my son plays too so I might use a slot for one of my alts.

I already had a family plan just for myself and my brother simply because it works out cheaper that way At least I have the option to play online with my alt accounts too I guess.

It's not pathetic or anything really. Me and my friends joined forces to sign up for a family membership just for the sake of saving monies. Honestly, it's worth subscribing considering the online trades that you can do with other players.

You definitely aren't alone. I have 5 characters total on my themed island and I rotate through playing them one each day (so I use them for more than for just having extra houses to decorate).

Getting the family plan (for myself) made sense as It would be a pain having to switch to my main account whenever I wanted to do something online related. Especially now that we have the ease of Dodo codes for trades and such.

I also still have 3 slots open for possibly a friend or future significant other (if that ever happens) that could just jump on my plan for free.

Right now I just have the family plan for my brother and myself. My alts don't even have a Nintendo account linked, so I can't add them to it lol

We have two accounts on one switch playing ACNH online with family membership including the two accounts. I think you can upgrade your current Nintendo online account to family membership, let your husband sign up a Nintendo account (the free one), then link his account to your family account. You can have multiple accounts in the family membership. We have three currently and just are too lazy to add more.

I can't justify myself buying another NSO online for my one Switch when I am the only person who plays it. No one shares with my Switch. I do have alt accounts but they don't need a NSO account.

However I will have to buy another separate NSO account if or when I get a second Switch for a second island.

Not weird at all! I got the family plan so my little cousins could play online without bothering me, but my second island is on there too, sooo I guess in the end I really got it for myself.

No I have one alt character and one NSO account for my main self/character, and I personally don't really want to spend more money on just an alt. I can see how it would be convenient though but its something I couldn't really justify spending money on personally.

I ended up getting a family account so that my brother could play his games online, so adding my alternate characters was a bonus. though I hardly play as them so they have yet to travel outside the island.
