So, I didn't pre-order it, but when I hopped down to GAME to buy it (I didn't want to download it) I got a bit of money off with my card, and although the cashier asked if we'd pre-ordered, she still gave us the special gift (The Golden Coin game card carrier) because she thought we ought to get it, cause we didn't know about the rewards of pre-ordering. (Double GAME card points or something)

Did this happen to anybody else?

(On a side note, it's a very good game. It's fun to use the Golden Flower and turn everything into coins.)

Before I read the full post, I felt quite bad that the store manager of my local store gave me a second preorder coin for free as they had more coins sent than they had stock sent, but now I feel a lot better that you got one anyway, so I am pleased again now.

Ah, that makes me feel better. I was wondering what the coin actually was, I only found out now it was used to carry the game card. They seemed to have quite a lot of them as well.

They just had more coins than stock in my local store and so since I have the manager as my friend, he offered me a second one and me, I don't say no to any promo items or freebies in any video game retail store.

Tbh..

Most of the newest Mario games are uber old stuff with a few sparkles attached. It's like sticking glitter to an old apple and trying to pass it as new.

I thought it'd be bigger too, but oh well. It's good if you don't wanna bring a whole load of games with you, since you can just wear it around your finger or something LOL.

TBH same, but it's quite good. My parents suggested if you wanted to make some puzzle and hide a secret message in there on a small piece of paper, that's a valid idea. :\

I guess that this is a US only thing, because I went to GAME and they had nothing to give away, lol.
Ah well, I'm not too bothered, I could always just buy it off eBay or something if I really wanted one.

The game is so much fun, though :D

Im PRETTY sure they had something to give away, you just missed it. The game was released like weeks ago, I can see why there was nothing.

As BellBringer said, yes they did.
This was in England..
Look at where my location says I am.

Plus, there's no GAME in the US.

I have a friend who works at GameStop and they give all the leftover pre-order bonuses to employees. He gave me about 20 commemorative Super Mario Galaxy coins, complete with box and wrapping, which were given to people who pre-ordered Super Mario Galaxy way back when. He sold a few on eBay, but I'm keeping all mine.

I agree, which is why I haven't been buying any newer Mario games, nor do I plan to.

Im not buying the new ones either, way too old and of course- TOO EASY. They need to go back on nostalgic and great games like Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario 64.
