y'all know how Nintendo has forced the crafting mechanisms into every corner, nook, cranny, shaft, crack, and seam of AC:NH, and how for the past 2 major holidays (Bunny day and Halloween) basically the entire event is centered around collecting DIYs and crafting? Like, for bunny day, if you wanted to get the special prize (which ended up being another stupid, crappy DIY) you had to collect and craft ALL of the bunny day furniture...

so, how do they plan on doing this next year? Give us new DIYs to learn and craft? Or will they just make us craft all the old stuff again, regardless of if you know the DIY's or not?

What are your opinions/thoughts on the subject?
Personally I wish it weren't just crafting... kinda want a more memorable animal crossing holiday.... like, I want to be able to find easter eggs around next bunny day. That would be super fun, because this year I couldn't do anything at my church for Easter and I was stuck inside on a rainy day so yeah ;-; (and yes ik I'm way too old for easter egg hunts lol. but at least being able to go to church would be nice)

p.s. sorry if there's already a thread like this ;-; i try, m8, i try

Based on the old games, the events will repeat, but with all the new features in new horizons you never know! 😻

Nobody really knows. All we know is that the events are not pre-coded into the game for every year after this one. People who have time traveled into next year and beyond can confirm that. What does that mean? It could mean that they are working on different events for next year. It could mean that after they are done actively supporting the game there will be no more events. They could figure out how to rotate events and make a "definitive update" to put all the events on a rotating schedule. Or they could just have different rewards for the events.

I'm taking the we will wait and see approach. I don't think we will know until next Bunny Day.

What do you mean by this? The whole thing with bunny day was that you were supposed to be “uncovering” the materials for the items. They were already trying to give the whole egg hunt feel over the season. Now, if they only made them actually hard to find...and NOT clog up everything when peeps are trying to get set up

Probably just repeat everything, and add one new useless wand.

I quit crafting.
Absolutely fed up to the back teeth with this insidious mechanism.

Don't know if this is credible but I remember reading that someone online TT'd to next year's Bunny Day a while ago and the event did not repeat (there were no egg balloons, etc). Don't know how true this is though, but it would be interesting if this were the case because it would imply more updates to come.

Also if I remember correctly in NL the events did not change every year, and if you completed everything once there wasn't much of an incentive to do it again.

I'm thinking the same but about the fishing tourney and the bug off.

They happen 4 times a year, are they really going to have the same gifts year after year after year?
I don't see the point in taking part of them if that was the case, especially if you've got the 4 NM stamps.

Hi, @saucySheep . I hope you have been doing okay :). @Intelligent_zombie’s art looks great in your sign :)

I missed out completely on the first events. I got my console and game near the end of May. I also missed one of the fishing tournaments. I have not tted to them and prefer not to since i am comfortable tting forward and back a day or two the most. I would like to be able to experience them at least once. I think it is unlikely they do major changes to the events or formats, but if they do I don’t think I would have a problem with it. It depends on what specifically though they change. My main concern is still getting more furniture and variety - for orderables and not just non- orderables.

I was thinking about this...and hopefully it'll be a change from all past AC games, because all events just repeated ad nauseum. I remember in NL I wouldn't even play if it was a Bug/Fish tourney day because all the villagers were just doing that and wouldn't even have anything amusing to say.

So fingers crossed that they'll at least have something new for the people who have already experienced said events, while maintaining the standard for those who may have missed out the first time around.

Btw, I can see them updating holiday events but I highly doubt they fishing/bug events will change. They're already not as frequent as they were in NL.

I am sure that seasonal events will repeat. Based from the updates we are getting so far, let's hope we get something new every once in a while. My expectations are quite low, honestly.

I think it's a bit tricky. In older games the events were the same every year. I'm pretty sure this is the first time they have the option to change the game during new years and add the events in a new way.
But I kinda hope they'll look for a middle ground. New people will still be joining throughout the years, it would be a shame if someone started playing next year and can never get the stuff from this year. It's a little too Pocket Campy for my liking.

I also often used to miss parts of events, especially in NL when they only took place on one day. I almost always missed because: it's the holidays. I'm celebrating haha. I don't really have that experience in NH because they drag them out throughout a few weeks which is good for me. But I've missed almost every fishing tourney and bugoff because I just wasn't able to play that day and I would hate it if that means I can't get that stuff anymore during later years.
I never really cared if I missed an event or only got part of the stuff, because there was always next year. I think it's a shame if that would go away, because it just kinda makes the game feel like a mobile game and I don't like that.
But I do think that maybe they'll add stuff for older players to do during the newer years with the same events. There's also still a bunch of events missing - like April Fools, midsummer nights etc. Perhaps they'll just keep adding other new events to keep older players engaged.

that's a really interesting point! that makes me feel as if they will do something a little different each year - especially considering that the game's lead directors were mentioning having updates for up to five years (😍)

i'd be really happy if they took an approach similar to splatoon 1/2, meaning that they spruce up the events each year & bring in some unexpected ones (e.g.: this year's stamp rally - but something better hopefully lol). then like splatoon 2, when support is gone for the game, the events repeat

i am hoping that they'll make the events different from year to year - after playing new leaf for a few years, the events would lose their charm

i think it is likely the events will repeat like in older titles, however since a lot of players will already have played the entire events and gotten all the diys (especially for the hated bunny day) and there isn't much else to it other than the diy aspect, it might change in new horizons. i sure hope we don't get another bunny month like last year

based on past games it might be the same furniture diys. in new leaf, the furniture you could get for each event like bunny day or festivale never really changed lol. but people have been playing nh very differently from past games so far, and i think that bc people had so much time to burn on the events and gather so much furniture/so many diys means that they probably should design new stuff to collect. i think it could add some longevity.

haha what's up <3 it's been a while (more like 2 weeks)
i forgot how fun it is to make threads c; i mean i won't be makin' em all the time but yeah this was a burning question so i mean

ah man i get that : P but the whole bunny day thing was torturous, you probably don't want to experience that.... in fact, nintendo is likely to mix up the bunny day event just because of how much backlash they got about it this year, lol. though i personally though Zipper was adorable ;v;

at least Halloween is more about getting candy and preparing halloween outfits and growing pumpkins. (and using the pumpkins to craft. tho the spooky series is kinda fire lol)

I hope that next year there will be new items to collect... or maybe a different event? But probably not since then new players wouldn't have a way to collect last year's prizes. I'm not sure what they are planning.

I didn't mind Bunny Day and I'm probably one of the few that actually liked the items... but I would like a big chocolate rabbit or other bunny themed items to decorate with. Or even just some nice pastel furniture.

Spooky or dark furniture (like a gothic living room and bedroom set) for Halloween might be nice, too.

Really hoping for more stuff.

Repeatung events in old games worked better beause they were your only option to get duplicates of the items. With DIYs, you only need to get the recipe once and make more items whenever you want.

There needs to be some kind of variation for people who already played the events without making newer players miss out on what came before.

People have already claimed to time travel to 2021 and the events weren't even available. It will probably be the same as this year. Only those of us who played it this year won't have to worry about all the collecting DIY and whatever else. We can just play the holiday. Although I am wondering what's going to happen several years down the road when the game isn't getting updates anymore. Will they release the events and they won't be locked behind updates or will the game be void of any of the events?

Most likely the same like always.

Honestly I don't understand the hate for crafting holiday items. At least you are working more towards it then going into Nooks to buy it or just talking to Isabelle to get one item and thats it...

Could crafting be more clean? Sure, but its not a bad mechanic and I think adds more to the game and paths the way for further integration in the future.
