So did they find proof that you can start with Uchi & Smug villagers?

These threads were so funny to me. After all these years, did anyone actually posted a proof they started with an Uchi or Smug villager?

TLDR: These threads are discussing Villagers you can't have as starters. Basically, Uchi & Smug (and Octopus). Some are claiming they had started with Uchi & Smug (for their first five villagers) but not a single one has provided proof. Either a ceremony picture or the process of sitting under the town tree with that said villager not appearing as a 6th-10th move in.

Personally, I think they're mistaking the 6th-9th move in as a starter or something. Sending one proof is NOT that difficult. However, I don't believe we don't get them as starters because they are "rare", but rather their personality is not seemed basic. As opposed to the first old personalities. I mean it makes sense to me that you're getting the old personalities first.

My first villagers were Cranky, Peppy, Lazy, Snooty & Jock.

I commented on one of these threads from four years ago.To this day, none of the people that claimed that they got an uchi/smug/octopus as one of their starting five has provided any proof.A couple of years ago,a brand new user posted a fake screenshot of his new town map which had Hazel as a starter. When I called him out he sent me an angry, profanity laced PM.Obviously,it's a touchy subject for some people.

I'm....
The dramatics! Idk why others feel the need, is it just to brag? Even if you "can", there are like 60 Uchi & Smug villagers. It's not that special & it's not that deep. But if anything, it only shows that that makes the chance 60/300+ villagers, so those who have reset a hundred of times would have seen at least one by now. So obviously, you can't. Even on GameFAQ's it was a topic.

I'm sure others don't mean harm, but spreading info like that would make some expect to get Pietro or Marshal while resetting. It's more likely that they are mistaking some of the move in's with starters. It's just not reliable when there are some claiming they got Julian & Marshal as a starter. The blatant lying.

I've never seen an uchi or smug starting villager either. I don't think we'll ever 100% know for sure unless someone digs into the code of the game, but I don't think it's possible.

I don’t think you can get smugs or uchis as starter villagers.

I'm certain I've seen Cherry pop up in a town that was freshly created while looking for a good town layout.

You can't have them as starters, but it's possible for one of them to move in the next day.

I started years ago, with smug Henry and Uchi Muffy.

I don't take screenshots, but I don't make things up either.

Now,now Herr Schnee.....don't get your lederhosen in a bunch.Nobody here is saying that you make things up.This particular subject is something that, for a lot of people, must be seen to be believed. After five years of ACNL there's been quite a few people that have claimed to have had a smug/uchi/octopus as a starting villager but none of them have provided visual evidence so naturally, there's a lot of widespread doubt among the faithful that play the game.I think that Nintendo deliberately withheld smugs and uchis from being starting villagers because they wanted to ensure that players would get at least one of each personality when they start a new town.Consider that when you start a new town, you get five villagers, each a different personality type. For example, when I started my first ACNL town,Catlips,my starting five were Gaston(cranky),Biskit(lazy),Robin(snooty),Ribbot(jock) and Victoria(peppy).I didn't start with a normal, uchi or smug....the game automatically moves the personality types you don't yet have into your town as the sixth, seventh and eighth villagers with the ninth being a random personality type(my random was Bree,a snooty).I'm not a game designer but for whatever reason,Nintendo set the number of starting villagers at five so naturally, the remaining three personality types would have to move in later, thereby ensuring that you get one of each personality type. But as everybody knows,we had to go and upset Nintendo's careful planning by doing the villager reset trick, the campsite reset trick and adopting villagers from other towns.

I had Kyle and Diva as starters in Cascades (along with Diana, Rizzo and Pekoe), Muffy as a starter in Chapman, and my brother had Rocket when he started and when I reset my cycling town 30 times, I had Tammy, Beardo, Paula, Colton and and Hans a few times. (not all at once)

I think hazel (uchi) was my first move in, but not starter. I haven’t had many maps over the years but I remember never having an uchi or smug for the first 5. In fact, for my second town, I specifically plot reset the days after the tree planting ceremony for any potential uchi or smug personalities that might pop up.

Perhaps there is a possibility that you can get one of those personalities on start up. However, rather than telling people that there’s still a chance you can get an uchi/smug for the first 5, causing them to plot reset for unnecessary hours, it is more accurate to suggest plot resetting after the tree ceremony to get the personalities you are missing, which more than likely will be an uchi or smug. In my opinion, resetting for a good map is better in the beginning anyways, as villagers can always be acquired.

Okay once & for all, since I'm about to start a cycling town & I will reset (only a few times) until I see an Uchi or Smug as a starting villager if it's really possible. Take BOTH screenshot & a pic from my phone so it won't be photoshopped. If I've never seen one, I'll just quit resetting & unfortunately won't believe it still. Like what @Nunnafinga said, nobody is saying people are making things up but in this case, seeing is believing.

Yes exactly! I feel like that would be the best way to choose from the remaining personalities you are missing. Letting go of a good map is more difficult, as the last few times I've tried to get dreamies I acquired here in less than 24 hours. Like, if you are content with the first 5 you get and then, do the reset trick for the remaining move ins.

Having any luck getting uchis or smugs in a starting five?I have a spare ACNL cartridge and I'm tempted to start a town just to see what happens. If I do that and by some chance get an uchi or smug as a starter, not only would I remember them quite well,I'd also document their much anticipated arrival.

None at all & I’ve been doing it all afternoon! Literally while resetting I had the Uchi & Smug wiki page so I won’t miss one villager lol

I'm fairly certain I've had Phoebe as a starter in my last town and Zell in this one, but that was in like 2014 and 2015, so please, take my words with a grain of salt.
