Similar Personalities or not? Julian/Shep especially?

Hey folks, I noticed that certain villagers within the same personality type say almost exactly the same thing, but others are a bit different, even though they are the same personality. For example I thought what Derwin and Drago said were different even though they are both Lazy.

I tried visiting them in dreamtowns, but what they say in a dream is different from the everyday sayings? Has anyone had Julian AND Shep (both Smugs), can you tell me if their personalities and what they say is very similar?? or are they different?

I'd love to hear about other villagers that you think are different from others of their personality type or the same.

I was under the assumption that all villagers of the same personality are programmed to have the exact same dialogue, is that not the case? The only difference would be the obvious as in greeting/catchphrase/nickname etc...

I feel like it's not really the case all the time? am I just making things up in my head? haha.

Sometimes certain ones seem to say exactly the same dialog, but I feel like some of them are a little different.

Julian and Zell are basically exactly the same.

The only difference I can see is how the villager LOOKS may make you think differently when a villager says the same thing.
I had Diana in my old village and Faye in my new village.
Though they said the same things, I look Diana's words to not be as harsh as Faye solely on the villager appearance... thinkin "Diana refined lady. Faye snooty cute she-wolf"

That's a good point, ppl will often times react differently to the same dialogue based on the appearance of the villager. Other than that though it's most likely the same. Do you have any examples of the different dialogue that you're suggesting OP?

I have Julian and Marshal in my town and I still love them both as much as when I got them. I don't really mind that they say the same things because I feel like they're still their own person. I'm debating on whether to get Zell too...but that's because I love smugs in general ;w; It's whatever you prefer...but definitely go for it if they're your dreamies~

The appearance can go a long way...

I remember I had a lazy villager that really creeped me out so when they would say a lot of the lazy villager kinds things ((can't think of them now)) I was really put-off.
Yet, when I got Beau... I thought he was so adorable so I thought everything he said was really adorable.
Even though the exact same thing was said to me a month or so before and I was creeped out. XP

When I had Rowan and Bam I felt that they were a bit different, but maybe it was just because I was closer Rowan than Bam, since Rowan was one of my starters? But it seemed like Bam had some dialogue I'd never heard from Rowan.

Yeah I thought that Derwin and Drago were different. I felt like Drago talked about food more? I dunno. But I think I'm probably just thinking so in my head.

I should also add I had Jacques as well (3 smug at the same time jfc), and he didn't say the same things, expect for the dancing thing

I have Phil and Quillson in my town. Sure, they have the exact dialogue, but the ones I've seen from both are different. It's just a matter of when you see it, rather, unlocking it, if you will.

Phil talked about his tea set when I went over to visit. He was also at Lily's house and he doesn't really need favors from me.
Quillson, however, has asked for several favors and he mentioned once that what I was wearing was really nice.

An important thing to note here is just because you don't ever see two of the same personality saying the same thing doesn't mean they actually have different dialogue. They both could easily have the same programmed dialogue but both never repeated everything the other has if that makes any sense. In that case there would really be no way of knowing for sure unless you had both villagers for an EXTREMELY long time and just assumed they have different dialogue because you've never seen it before.

i played wild world last night and whew, the dialogue is raunchy. this kitty in my town was about to ask me for a favor, but then decided to say "nevermind lol."

good stuff.

For me it's Rudy, Moose and Bree, Diana

Both Rudy and Moose are jocks but Rudy barely ever talks about exercise and training as much as Moose does. With Bree and Diana their both Snooty but Bree doesn't talk about her self as much Diana does.

I have Cousteau and Pierce as jock villagers, and they usually say the same things. However, I also have Puddles and Peanut as peppy villagers, and noticed instantly when Peanut moved in she talked a bit differently. She'll say things like "like" every few words and "ohmygohsh" to. I don't know if it has to do with friendship levels, but I don't remember Puddles every saying things like that, and she was one of my starters. Maybe they programmed a few different speech patterns to give personalities more diversity.

I have an example of how a villager's appearance may affect how their dialogue comes across.

A jock neighbor always brags about their muscles and how MANLY they are. However, I have Iggly as my town jock, and if you don't know already penguins aren't the thinnest of the bunch. Especially Iggly. When he brags about his muscles, he seems desperate because he really doesn't have any. Whenever he asks for fruit, he sounds lazy and out of shape.

Did they purposefully make a fat penguin a jock for that reason? So that he seems out of shape and lazy instead of exercise-loving and sports-minded? Because honestly Iggly probably has the most personality of any villager I've ever had in that case! He's mroe unique too.

they do say different things - not their dialogue is vastly diverse, but julian's always been sweeter to me than marshal, in my past two towns. julian is also more of a jerk to other villagers, while marshal is more a pushover when i hear about them or see interaction. XD

also, my cousin has cherry & she's a bit different from mira, at least when i spam talk her. it's like, she doesn't get worn out as easily as mira when i talk to her 3+ times and seems more pleasant? idk, i don't even like cherry. :B hope that makes some sense?

oh, i forgot to add: i feel the same with lazies. some of them are super whiners who complain when they don't get their way, but others are much sweeter & don't say something a little "underhanded" when you refuse a request. a

Something happened like that to me! I had tex, and he had low self esteem, he would always put himself down despite being a smug lol
