Al has been in my town for 231 straight days now, and I desperately want him to move. As such, I've taken to hitting him with my net/hammer, pushing him around, and shoving him into pitfalls as much as I possibly can. Like, every time I pass him, I make sure to make him sad.

Aside from them hating you, are there any negative side effects to being mean to villagers? (I.e., will it make your perfect town status drop or something?)

As far as I know, there aren't any side effects that effect the town, but, if you want to make Al move out, hitting him is not the answer. The best way is to ignore him. Don't talk or interact with him in any way and he'll move out eventually.

From what I've heard, hitting them only makes them stay longer. Also, if they are your tenth villager by invite, they'll pretty much never leave 8C...

I don't think it affects your perfect town status, but I'm not completely sure.

Well you can't get their picture from being best friends. I'm pretty sure being "mean" to villagers has no effect on when they move out though.

I don't know, but hitting them will only make them less likely to move. Try being nice to them. I find that always helps. Good
luck getting him out!

I once tried ignoring him for a full month. Nothing. :(

But I don't want to be nice to him!!! I want him to move, NOW!!! He's been in town so long, and he drives me absolutely nuts. :(

It's weird how the villager that always wants to move is the one you like the most. Try talking to them a whole bunch and be friendly with them. Also, they wont move out if they were the last one in. I have also heard that giving them rotten fruit works well. I have never tried it myself but have seen several success stories. Good luck!!! ^_^

As unfortunate as it is, just be patient and they will eventually ask to leave. Being rude or mean to them doesn't make a difference.

Being mean doesn't help make villagers move out, but it is a good way to take out your frustration at them.

Hmm...there's an idea. I got a rotten cherry from harvesting today.

It's hard, I know :( but, it can sometimes take longer. Quillson was in my town just shy of half of a year even with ignoring him, but he finally left.

Crap, I hope I don't have to wait that long! He's already been in town for seven months! :(

If he hates you make sure you don't answer his "pings," find out from the other villagers who is moving (talk to them twice a day) and when it's him that decides to move ignore him. If you aren't friends and you tell him to move he may decide to stay to rekindle your friendship.

I find the best way though is to become their friend, the only villagers in my town that want to leave are the animals I am am close with.

If you don't mind TTing you can use a completely safe method to speed up the process.

1. On your DS settings set the clock forward 2 weeks.
2. Start a new character and before saving check who moved. If it's a villager you want to keep then quit.
3. Set the DS clock to the previous date and load up your mayor, wait for the neighbours "ping" and tell them to stay.
4. Set the clock on your DS 3 days ahead, load up mayor, quit. This step will allow for a new villager to decide to move but won't be enough time for them to actually move.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 until he is gone.

I should also add that after he is gone you can safely set the DS clock back to the original date (today's date) as it will only count as one day forward. Your grass will also regrow while using this method. TTing is also always safe when you travel forward during a period when a villager is considering moving (if they move on the 27th any day inbetween the current day and the 27th would be safe.) Also on days that you prevented a villager from moving.

Honestly, I had chops for two months and he wouldn't leave, so i just ignored him and whenever i did talk to him i just denied his requests. Then boom he asked to move out the next day ;)

Other than him not responding to you when you call him with the megaphone, and no random letters with gifts, and of course no pics for running mundane tasks, there really aren't any.
