Side character pattern question

So I've looked online for this and while I have found answers I just want to be 100% sure and those answers were from years ago so maybe the mechanics have changed idk but anyways..

If I delete a side character, will the patterns placed on the ground by them completely disappear or will they just turn white? I've read they completely disappear as if you got rid of them manually but can anyone for sure confirm that?

I want to redo two of my side characters but I don't want to go through my entire town swiping away all of those patterns. I'm lazy, sue me

I deleted a side character recently and the qr code path she was carrying completely disappeared.

Edit: the clothing patterns I made myself with that character that I stored at the Able Sisters remained, however (which I was happy about because I'd done a lot of intricate work on them and hoped to keep them)

I think it only turns white if you "delete" the pattern on the character itself. But if you delete the whole character the paths disappear.

^ And yeah, things that you put up in Able Sisters stay there. Even your flag design for your town and sign post PWP iirc don't disappear if you change/delete the design. You just have to manually upload it again.

it seems the rule is, if it's something you you don't have to keep in your designs, then they'll stay if the character is deleted.
things like the flag, signs and able sisters displays don't actually need to stay in your designs tab. as in, if i deleted the aoki flag from my designs, the flag itself would still remain at town hall and the train station.
but with paths, if you change or erase the patterns, the paths get changed as well. this also goes for furniture designed with custom designs, but that doesn't really matter if you're deleting the character since you can't take that kind of furniture out of your own house in the first place. (i mean, you could, but you can't drop it or gift it. you can probably sell it but i'm not too sure.)
