So I thought it would be fun to show the oldest art in your portfolio and compare it to your recent art to see the improvement in your art, so here's mine:

I am so surprised you were able to draw at all with a mouse! Your current works are always gorgeous.

As for me… I give you one of my first digital drawings (July 2021). A not so great drawing, of the very beautiful @/Roxxy.

And then my latest unsolicited drawing for @/Blink. I was actually super pleased with this, because I still struggle a lot with drawing in general! Even just drawing a chibi, sometimes it feels like a smooth and easy process, and then with a different chibi, just struggling endlessly (which is what I’m currently experiencing on a different drawing; sometimes I just throw away a drawing and start again).

The earliest digital art I could find! This one was done in 2011 :') I think I used GIMP.

Nowadays, I use Firealpaca and am learning to use Procreate!

I'm still very much a noob but hopefully stuff looks better now :')

Circa 2005:

This was after removing the hooks, sanding the surface and filling in the holes. I meant to take a picture before even touching it but I forgot. Oops.

2021:

I was going to completely do something different but I couldn’t figure out what. In homage to the original design I decided to use it as a base while adding detail and changing the colours. Really happy with how it turned out.

oooh, fun thread idea! these two art pieces are completely different, so they might not make for the best comparison, but…

this is the oldest digital art piece of mine i could find. it’s from 2015, and it’s a dragonfly that i drew for a contest @/The Pennifer held. it’s certainly not the worst thing i’ve drawn, but it’s pretty underwhelming imo, and i lowkey hate the colour palette i went with.

this is one of my latest pieces of digital art (2022), and it just so happens to be my current avatar + one of my artworks that i’m most proud of! it’s an easter bunny celeste ‘chibi’, and i honestly love it so much lol. my art is really nothing special, and i still have lots to learn and improve on before i can consider myself an artist, but i’ve definitely come a long way since 2015!

and for comparison, I found an older Queen of Hearts with Marshall from my PocketCamp days

The Swooning art was inspired by a conversation we had as to whether people even “swoon” any more! LOL

Ohh I love looking at other artist‘s old vs new art! Here’s some of mine.

It was physically painful to look at my art from 2007 but we all start somewhere I guess. I have not drawn consistently from 2007-now, there were always several years in between when I didn’t draw at all so sadly I don’t have a good grasp on how quickly I would have improved had I drawn continuously.

my first steps into manga/anime style drawing from I think 2007? These were done without references and I’m so glad I since discovered the joys of looking at anatomy

Maybe 2015?

I did draw some bits and bobs here and there but never for several weeks/months on end from 2015-2021. I seriously picked up art again in April 2021.

You all are so awesome for all the progress that you’ve made! Thanks for sharing! I find this very inspiring.

I can imagine how much hard work it took for you all to get as far as you are at now. So happy to see how far you all have come!

I’d share mine but haven’t drawn enough or regularly. I’ll post here maybe once I have drawn a bit more.
