So, I tried pathing in my ?main? town recently to get villagers to move into certain spots. But there?s two spots that a villager just refuses to move into, and it?s driving me bonkers.
I have a second cartridge that I?m now going to try to find a perfect map, and try this all over again lol

So I wanna see your towns! Do you path you?re entire town just leaving spaces for villagers to move into?
Did you set down paths and line them with trees/bushes/flowers?

I just want to see some nice towns, lol.
So post your dream addresses? And maybe if you have any advice on pathing, that would be great!

First off, I've always path my towns completely. It's easier to plan out your town this way, and it looks much better than natural paths in my opinion. I never line my pathways with flowers or trees, but I always keep plants one space away from the pathways so nothing is crowded.
After routing the main walkways I use patterns that look like grass and put them around the natural areas I want to protect (e.g. planned areas, gardens, orchards, etc). Then I simply leave 1-2 3x3 areas that are good for villagers to move into. I try to leave some extra room. Gaston was recently a perfect example of the trick working, thankfully.

I made two mistakes in the past doing this though. The first being that I didn't leave enough room for the game to find. The villager moved in on top of patterns. The second was not double checking that my town was safe after placing patterns. A looked over area cost me my foreign fruit.

My dream address is 5C00-016E-8466, if you'd like to check out my town! :) I hope your pathing expedition proves successful.

when I first started on my second cartridge, I already started putting down paths, obviously, I haven’t unlocked the qr machine yet but I put some placeholders because when you scan a new path it just replaces those on the ground. what you’re trying to do with villagers is plot resetting I’m pretty sure, in order for them to move into any exact spot(s) you want them to move into, you have to eliminate any spots that they could. The size of a villager house is 3x3, one unit = one path spot. the villagers may not live where you want them to because you haven’t gotten rid of all the possible spots besides the one you wanted, even when you forget one spot the villagers are always so stubborn with house placing. that may be the reason or you didn’t give them enough spaces for them to move into, an open 3x3 space is all you need, if they don’t have anywhere to go I’m pretty sure they just move randomly or don’t move in at all, heard both.

I’m going to go and check out your town right now!! It sounds like it’ll be great inspiration!

I had 3x3 sections mapped out for them ;-;
I got 8 of my other villagers into sections fine, but there’s two sections that are 3x3, and far enough away from rocks, buildings, water, everything. But no matter what I did, no one would move into either of those spaces :(
Also! I had no clue that if you upload a new qr code it’ll just replace all the paths on the ground....that’s going to be helpful lol
