I've been thinking about destroying my town for a while now. Here are my reasons:
- I HATE my town layout.
- I want to have a cuter town and mayor name.
I think it'd be best. But here are things I'd have to cope with.
- Reupgrading my house!
- Putting down paths.
- Unlocking PWP's.
- Getting My Dreamies.
My town has only been up and running for about 4 months, so it won't hurt as bad. I plan on keeping important stuff, like my Sanrio stuff + cute clothing / good furniture. Having people hold my dreamies. When you start, you only have like 4 villagers, so I can move in some. I'll sell my other furniture, and start up a cycling town for a bit to get the TBT I need for my new town. I just want to keep my good furniture and clothing, hybrids, and dreamies. All I need to change is the map. No, I don't hack . What do you peeps think??

In your case, I think you should restart. Town layout is probably the #1 reason that most people restart. Animal Villagers can be change. Town map, mayor and town name can't be change.

I'm thinking about it myself to be honest. However if I do that, I will time travel only to the point where I have access to the Island and no further because the first few days are absolutely pointless. I would then have to remember all the holiday events and my birthday a few days earlier.

You will be okay but I want to share some tips with you. From my experience, there is no such thing as a perfect town map. There are those that are "money making" and those that are "landscaping" maps. What I mean by this is a map that is convenient may not be as pretty as one that is not. For example, my current town has a walkway that goes from the dock straight up (perfect grid) to Re-tail as well as a bridge going vertical in the middle of the map. From a money making standpoint, it literally is one of the best maps but because the layout is so simple, it quite boring to explore and play in. It not a pretty map because it so simple. So just bare that in mind when you choose your new map layout and most of all have fun!

It's been decided! I'm restarting. Writing down what I have to do before.

If I ever restart, I'm going to play as myself and my town name will be where I will be moving to next year. This way I would feel more connected to my town and this beautiful world of Animal Crossing.

Three years of hard work into my town. Ain't ever gonna restart it ^^ but it really is worth it to reset until you find the town layout that's perfect for you. Took me about a billion resets back when the game first came out but it was well worth it a little pain goes a long way

It definitely the hardest part about this game. Never had to bother with that in Wild World well only because I didn't know that every maps was different.
