But I want to time travel to the right date, what if something bad happends..

April 1st is considered as one day back. If you're so afraid of screwing up the date triple check it before you go to said date. Isabelle even gives a confirmation, so your don't have much to worry about.

after you get the pictures, wait until someone asks to move. on the day you tell then not to go, you can go as far forward as you want

As for weeds, do the beautiful town ordinance and you should be all good. You'll get a few but not as many as you could.
