If you paid 500 points for the internet channel, Nintendo is gonna give you a refund so you could buy another game for 500 points. Pretty sure that's what they meant.

Nintendo said that it's just a rumor that lots of people's wiis have broke because of this. It's only a small number of people. And if it does break, they'll fix your wii for you. Move all your memory to an SD Card just in case.
