I've just achieved everything I'd like to do in my game. I've reached all my goals (all shops open, no mortgage, full bug/fish collection, completed all Gracie sets etc) so I don't know if I should start my town over from the start?
I'm not a huge fan of my villagers and I don't want it to get boring for me. However, at the same time I don't want to see the town I've built from nothing just get destroyed. :(
I'm not sure what to do so I came here for advice.
Many thanks!
P.S. Can't afford to buy a second copy of the game.

Do you like your town? Are you happy with where your house is and where the permanent PWPs are? If so, keep it. Let your villagers move out if you don't like them. Better ones will eventually move in. Letting villagers move out and in keeps things fresh.

If you want a completely different town and you're sure you won't regret it, start over.

I'm not a fan of how the town is laid out nor the positions of the permanent PWPs. I know if I do it I'll regret it but when I build everything back up, I'll be glad I got more play-time out of it. The reason I can't make up my mind is because, to me, the pros and cons are equal.
However, if it's took me three* years to get me where I want to be, I don't want it take another three years. Hopefully by that time we'll have AC: Wii U.

*Two years, sorry for any confusion

You could make a second character. That might help bring a bit of excitement back, since you'll have more to do.

The game has only been out in NA/PAL for 2,5 years though... Unless you have a Japanese game of course.
I'd say you shouldn't reset... I know I would really much regret it, as I cherish original towns. Having your town for so much time gives it a lot of memories. It's also true that besides the progress in your town (shop and decoration-wise), you have a lot of items from holidays you participated in and stuff and to be honest, I'd hate to get rid of such memories. I haven't been able to keep my first ACNL town, but I pretty much wish I did. Try redecorating your town and meeting new villagers, it'll make the town seem much more fresh and you'll have something to do again. You could also (re)decorate your character's house; there are still a lot of things you can do to fun up your town!

I understand the OP's frustration. I had my original town for over a year and I never dreamed of restarting. But one day, I just did. I've never regretted it, and it's been 7 months. My current town is sooo much better than the original.

You should only delete it if it feels right to you. You need to consider all things before jumping on the conclusion train :) Go with your heart.

Honestly? I wouldn't. There's so many other goals you can obtain, getting all the badges, getting all your villager pictures, completing your shopping catalogue.

Agreed! you can always set yourself some mini tasks to keep yourself busy. Theres always something to do in the world of animal crossing! You could even try collecting all the island-only furniture, or try and obtain all DLCS. You don't have to always be playing animal crossing. You can always do other things in your spare time :)

I always say go with the hut instinct, although resetting does allow you a fresh start with so many things!

Thanks for the help everyone, I think for now I'll keep my town! It's not the first time I've thought about restarting but for now, at least, my town lives on. If I can find NL in a sale I'll definitely buy it and start a new town! Once again thanks for the help! :D
