Right now I am interested in making a cycling town. The problem is I made one in the past and it didn't last very long due to a lack of desire as time went on. However I feel like now I know the forums well and I know how most of the cycling towns are run but it doesn't keep me from worrying about giving up like what I did before. I am getting pulled into two different directions! I will put up a poll and I would appreciate any feedback. Thank You.

Go for it! Just keep in mind that cycling can sometimes be pretty time consuming.

if you want to do it, do it! but as you probably learned with your last one, cycling can be very time consuming, so make sure you really want to make that commitment. you could always just make a cycling town without making a thread for it, and just sell certain villagers as you cycle at your own pace -- that's less work, and you don't have to worry about lurkers, reserves, or other stuff that can pile up. good luck regardless! :-)

I usually make a new town until I get a villager that i like and use this method:

3. Go forward 5 days. The next villager will be in boxes.

The advantage of this method is that it you can keep your game ultimately to the current date. It's also a little easier for younger players (like my daughter) to just move it between three predefined dates, rather than having to remember...how far am I going forward this time?

To give you an example, the last few cycles in my town have been like this:

May 14 2014 - Pashmina in boxes, Chrissy new
Set game to May 9 2013, save and quit.
Set game to May 9 2014, save and quit.
Set game to May 14 2014, Jitters is in boxes, Bree new (all other villagers the same)
Set game to May 9 2013, save and quit.
Set game to May 9 2014, save and quit.
Set game to May 14, 2014, Bones is in boxes, Katt is new (no other changes to villagers)."

It depends, if you have another cartridge, go for it! If you don't then don't. It will ruin your town, because you'd need to rebuild the town. I suggest not.

I think if you want to make some quick TBT if TBT matters to you, then go ahead and make a cycling town. Although there's a ton of cycling towns out there, the more the merrier to be honest. There's no competition between cycling towns so I don't see why it can't be done. Although there's a ton of cycling towns, there's still people struggling to find some of their dreamies. So it's always good to have extra cycling towns who might have them in town. TBT isn't all that matters though, I think if you truly feel like you want to make a cycling town then go ahead. There's nothing stopping you! You can always close it, if you decide you don't want to cycle any more. :)
