hi all! i'm heavily contemplating resetting, just b/c i really don't like the choices i made before. while i thought i had thought things through, i really didn't. while i liked my town name in the beginning, i think i'm regretting it. though it's stupid, i really wish i had a different airport color. i also HATE the way my town is laid out (and i find terraforming really overwhelming, but even more so now since everything is moved in certain places that i'm not even fully in love with).

but i've been playing since release on and off, so you can see why i'm hesitating lol. i don't really time travel, so things would definitely take a while to get done. i have a lot of items i'd hate to get rid of and villagers that i love but i still feel like i never make progress in designing my island because i feel so hopeless with it already.

let me know your opinion!! what would you do if you were me?

I had the same thought last week. I do miss my old island, but restarting is a very nice refresher!!
For you if you don't TT, it will be a bit long lasting for the first few days, but after you get through all that, it's worth it for sure!
I'd say go for it!

I have felt that frustration on and off since I started and have found that if I concentrate on one small area and forget the rest, it is much easier to deal with. The good thing about resetting is that there are a lot of trustworthy people on this forum who would be willing to hold onto your stuff while you get set back up.

if you're not happy you can restart. Especially if the name is not what you want it really sucks to see that all the time.

Lay-out is something you can do terraforming. Even though it's overwhelming there is not really a rush to do. But maybe you'll like it more with a new island :D

I thought about a reset just recently actually. Mainly for the airport color (I'd like the blue one), and perhaps doing some things differently now that I have a better feel for the game. I decided against it because I have a full storage's worth of items I'd want to keep (biggest reason, imagine carrying that many things in batches of 40 and even less back) and even with time travel, having to redo all the events, terraforming, etc. would be exhausting. I'm also too familiar with my island's characteristics to change now...

I'm hoping they'll give us building remodels like in NL eventually. My advice is weigh everything you got so far and ask yourself if it's practical and worth it to start over.

if you're not happy with your island and find more encouragement by resetting go for it. A bunch of ppl here would help you hold your items in the interim.

I personally would not because of the achievements. It takes too long to complete and losing progress of these terrifies me.

As to villager if your not crazed about raymond or judy the cost of most actually went down so getting them back shouldnt be too bad.

If your airport color and island name are irritating enough to you that you can't stand them, then maybe it's time to 💣💣💣 your island especially if you haven't invested a ton of time in it.

I recently reset my island because I was going for an entirely new aesthetic and it made more sense to reset than to completely destroy everything and re do them. I made the decision to reset after not playing my island for three straight weeks. I bought this game to play it, if I no longer feel the motivation to even pick the game up then that means it’s time to do something. So I reset after that and I don’t regret it one bit. I regained the excitement I lost for the game and ended up loving this island more than my first one.

I recently reset as well and wish I had done it sooner! The name didn't fit the theme I wanted which hurt my inspiration and creativity. My pier was very short and I was just all over the place with that Island because I didn't know what I was doing. I love my new island so much. My creativity/motivation is so much better with the new name and map! I reset until I got what I wanted which was an orange airport with apples and hyacinths. It took a few hours but was worth it to me!

Sure, it sucks to give up my museum that had tons of bugs, fish and completed fossil section. All those DIYs gone. Not to mention I had to say goodbye to my Raymond and Marshal. That one especially hurt because I spent an ungodly amount of NMT to buy Raymond. I have no regrets restarting though! It's actually a lot of fun so far. There is something special about the humble beginnings. :giggle:

So to answer your question, I would reset!

Personally I would reset. There are many amazing services on the forums that could help you obtain favourite items, villagers and some in game currency so you could catch up with some of it without having to time travel. Once you have completed the first initial few days it should get a lot easier. It sounds like you aren't very happy at all with your current island and I definitely understand finding terra-forming overwhelming! Sometimes it is just easier to start from the basics again, it will be a lot more satisfying in the end. Resetting, granted that you don't do it too many times once you have established an island and aren't too crazy picky can actually be a lot of fun and refreshing. I'd say go for it and also- the sooner you do it, the easier it will be to replenish everything. Especially before future updates and events.

I have been wanting to reset because my dock size, no northern rock peninsulas and my town fruit and flower.. also residents services is one off.. and I want the beach to the side.. but I've come up with so many ideas for this town and I've looked at all the maps and all the possibilities and i just cant do it.. I'd be resetting for hours to try and get a map just like mine but it may never happen with all the stuff I want so whatever.. I'm happy with mine atleast the airport is yellow and I have a big peninsula.. I'd rather just get another switch

I’m in the exact same boat actually. Thinking of resetting excites me but also scares me at the same time.

I just don’t know what to do with my island and there are things like RS and airport colour (although the orange airport matches the orange fruit) that I’d like to be changed.

If I were you I would think it through and maybe reset as a last resort? In the end it’s up to you though and the game is about having fun.

As someone who restarts things way too frequently, I say do it. Having that fresh start is so...relieving and, to a degree, exciting. You said you're doing it because you don't like aspects of your island and want to change those facts. What I suggest for you is to take out something to write on and a utensil to write with and plan a few things for your new island. What is it exactly you don't like about your island? What would you change these to? Are you going to let someone hold your items or are you going to start from scratch? Are you going to go back in time and redo events or are you going to start from now and just play in rl time? Do you have a theme you want to strive for on your island?

For all of that, I would suggest you pick a few things. If you strive for only one, it is easier for you to become dissappointed. Definitely if you're looking for the perfect combo.

Also, don't be too held up with terraforming. It doesn't have to be perfect. Actually, it can just be entirely spontaneous. You can start with an idea you might even find won't work and go for it anyway (that's what I've done with my own). Remember you can always knock things down and never strive for Instagram quality. Don't feel pressure for extravagance, just have fun and go for what might not work because you can always start again. My suggestion is to just do a small section and not worry about anywhere else.

I think you should consider if u can fix up ur current island, and if terra form is overwhelming why would it stop when u make a new island? u should conquer that fear!
imo - fix what u have instead of reseting unless u really really don't like ur current island.

If u do reset - i suggest u find a friend u can trust and give her/him all of ur valuable stuff (rare stuff, bells etc..)
so u can take them back when u reset the island.

I didn't know people reset their island because of airport color, interesting..
