Should I Reset my Game?

I really want a fresh start, but I have had my current town for over a year now. I don't like the name I chose for my player or my town. I'm torn and I'd please like some advice if you have any.

First question, can you afford to get a new copy of the game, starting a new town and keeping your old one?

Why do you want to reset?
Would you still want some of your villagers, asking someone to hold them for you?
Would you still like to keep your bells and items, asking a friend to watch them until you reset?

What things will you look for in your new map?
Would you ponds, rocks, river and waterfall placement, ie...
What about ocean on the right or left, plus a private island?
Is Retail, town hall and plaza placement important?
Research those things so you know that when you reset, you will get your dream town, and won't be disappointed.
Also take a few photos of your old town for memories or upload it to Dream suite, so you can still visit and get a good feeling if you ever do miss your old town.

THEN make sure you choose the right name for your town, villager, and all that jazz.
