Shooting Stars

Isabelle does not announce when Celeste will be visiting your town. Or at least she hasn't announced Celeste's arrival on my island when she does visit.

Oh dear, I bet she's been several more times and I probably missed her, then. I'll try looking around for her at night regularly. Thank you for letting me know!

I've been playing since release and haven't seen Celeste even once!! Is there are particular time she shows up, does she hang around anywhere specific on the island? I just must be missing her, but I find Wisp pretty often in the grand scheme of things.
I found that Celeste's visits are random, but start from 7 p.m. and end (presumably) around 5 a.m.

If she is in your town, she would be walking around the plaza area. Sometimes around other places on your island (from what I observed), but mostly around the plaza area.

The other day my villagers kept mentioning that later that night would be a really good time to look at the sky, and there were waves of 5-6 shooting stars every 5 minutes or so. Celeste also appeared that night. I went from having wished on about 30 shooting stars to 100+ that night

I once found Celeste hiding in the far, out-of-the-way corner of my island. she appears without any warning.

Is there a difference between shooting stars and meteor showers?
I don't believe there is a difference between them in New Horizons. Except, maybe the term "meteor shower" might imply that there are going to be more frequent shooting stars at night. (I may be wrong, but that is what I have observed.)

In that case, I have seen them but only because Isabelle announced a meteor shower. I dont think I've seen them randomly though.

I've never seen a shooting star on my island and I've been playing since launch. Celeste has come to visit 3 times after 7pm - twice she wandered around, and last time she stayed in the plaza. I think it's just a luck thing. Thank Nook you can get the star achievements by visiting other players.

I've had Celeste twice since starting.
Stars, I'm not sure the exact amount but probably 5/6 nights I've had shooting stars. Celeste was only there during one of the nights and the other night she was there was no shooting stars.

I only had one official announced meteor shower. The other nights they do seem to appear less often than the shower. Having your sound up helps because they make a "twinkle"? lol sound when they shoot...so that's how I've noticed them.
