Pokémon Shiny Pokémon discussion!

Oh no, missing a shiny is the worst. D:
You're so excited if you see one and then you will be so full of disappointment following the encounter. That's what makes finding a shiny a bit scary too.

I've caught a few shinies in the wild. The first was shiny Slugma back in Pok?mon Ruby on the GBA. Then I caught a shiny Ponyta and Larvitar in Pok?mon Platinum. I still have them now, I traded the Larvitar to my bf, and its now a shiny Tyranitar he still uses.

It wasn't all fun though, I encountered a shiny Graveller in Platinum, but it used explosion before I had the chance to catch it. The worst was when I restarted my copy of Soul Silver. It was at the very start of the game, I encountered a shiny Rattata. I though 'oooh its golden, I want it!' However, it was still before I had received the Poke balls, so I couldn't have caught it even if I wanted to :(

I've had a ton of shinies from trades but a few stick out to me

-Palkia and Reshiram: given to me by Prabha (a user on this forum) when I asked for regular versions (It was probably because I would shop at their pokemon store a ton and buy up as much stuff as I wanted). It was a really nice surprise.

-Linoone: My first shiny in the wild. I traded it for an Yveltal.

-Quagsire: My second, and last, shiny in the wild. I caught it and named it Illya. It's now sitting in my PC boxes.

-Beldum: It was the event one, but I found it completely on accident when trying out the mystery gift function. Even though it has one IV in Attack, it still works wonders.

I have encountered 2 wild shinies

I have less than 100 hours in my pokemon X game xD How is that even possible?

I have a shiny Politoed and it's really cute! I caught it as a Poliwag while chain fishing.

My last shiny was a Vulpix. At 300 shaking patches I had had a lot of time to think about why I even tried for competitive pokemon anymore, and decided I just wanted a shiny, no matter how bad it was. Then it ended up being male, Timid, and 3IV. Haven't touched the game since, oops.
My best shiny catch was a Hariyama on a Nuzlocke that broke out of an Ultra ball and used Whirlwind, but somehow didn't connect. I don't remember what was up that made a 100% move miss but I'm glad it did. I Master balled him after and haven't touched the game since. Haaaaah.

I've never, in over 1,000 hours clocked in throughout my life of playing through Pokemon Diamond that I started with, to Pokemon ORAS, encountered a shiny Pokemon. Never. And I've been in so many places where they could of been, even if they are super rare.

I encountered a Shiny Shuppet at a friend safari. It had 2 good IVs but still a trophy pokemon at pokemon X.

I was breeding a fletchling and a ditto and was really trying hard breeding for a good IVs and because of the Masuda method, I got my first shiny from breeding. I almost cried from being too happy because it had 6 IVs. my first battle pokemon who was a shiny.

from that I got addicted breeding for a shiny. And now my team is full of shinies.

the masuda method really works after a few tries "D

I used to be a pretty prolific shiny hunter back in the days of Gen IV and V. I still dip back into it every now and then when I'm particularly bored. The latest shiny I've found is a shiny Torchic by SRing in Omega Ruby, and it wasn't a particularly long hunt either; maybe like 150 to 200 SRs at most.

150 - 200 SRs got me like/// O_O

Yeah, from what I can tell the chances of finding a random/SR shiny in Gen VI are higher than previous gens -- stories like mine are becoming quite common. Attempting to SR for a shiny Torchic in the original games would have been WAY too tedious for me to deal with.

I got 2 shinies in a row on X. I was hatching eggs when I accidently went into the grass and encountered a shiny Psyduck in a horde battle. A few minutes after I hatched a shiny froakie ^.^

I had something like that happen to me in Platinum. I caught a shiny Spearow on Route 225 and decided to EV train it on Route 226. When I started running through the grass there, the first Pokemon that showed up was a shiny Raticate. o.O

Guess we were just the lucky ones! :p

it is a matter of luck I guess :D i hope I can get more shinies. I have a "if youre not shiny, you are not on my team" policy :D i have shiny teams hatched from XY and moving to ORAS :D
