Mew can be shiny from the in-game event in Emerald, seen here. However, the Old Sea Map was only distributed to Japanese games. Any English shiny Mew you'll find is illegal. Further, a legitimate shiny Mew is VERY hard to come by, and one with 6IVs is essentially guaranteed to be illegal.

I know that there was that event but even so chances are even if japanese it was probally pokegenned or shinified.... there is no such thing as a legit trade these days due to powersave and pokegen <.<

I got my shiny mew in a trade, I dunno if it's hacked or not but I honestly didn't care at the time.​

It can also be RNG abused, which is 100% legitimate as it doesn't use any type of 3rd party hardware and is fully accepted by the Pok?mon trading community. Either way, I wish the OP the best of luck in obtaining a shiny Mew.
