DLC is downloadable content, items that are not originally packaged with the game, but instead sent by Nintendo. It is "downloaded" into your game when you put it in your pockets or pick it up. You can sell it, and also buy it again through the catalog. To get these special letters you must have WiiConnect24 on, both through the Wii system, and have the settings on through ACCF as well.

I must say, this game is the biggest game that I've ever seen to get so much DLC. I've never seen such a game...

Of course, Japan has gotten many DLC, as America and Europe hasn't gotten much...
