When I started Fireleaf I thought I wouldn't try plot resetting and simply see where the houses go. Well, turns out this is what doing that gets me:

What a pathetic sight to behold. It looks absolutely hideous right in front of the Town Hall. This is made worse by the fact this has happened in all 3 of my towns. And to think, I was actually somewhat excited to have Kid Cat in my town.

Why did I make this thread? Mostly because I'm really annoyed about losing a perfectly good villager, but also to warn you. If you don't plan on plot resetting, your villagers will actively seek out the worst parts of the map. Make sure to at least cover those up.

Oh, no! That's awful.

And I totally agree with you about villagers seeking out the worst possible places. I didn't know about plot resetting when I first started New Leaf and expected to play the same way I did on the GameCube, very casually. I ended up with three villagers settling down around my house and town hall, making me feel completely boxed in. I don't remember villagers doing this in the older games. I don't know why they changed the mechanics to have the villagers plot in such horrible locations. It's really ridiculous that you basically have to plot reset or at least protect certain areas with patterns and pwps.

Anyway, that's my rant for the day. LOL

But seriously, I'm really sorry that this happened to you, and with a villager you were excited about, too.

I'm actually excited to see the spots my villagers will actively seek out!! Due to rocks present in front of major buildings, I do not think they will be able to place their houses in terrible spots, but I'll find out eventually!!

Thank you for the PSA/warning <3 I'll advise to you, maybe placing patterns down in front of buildings or pwps there, if you'd like to continue not plot resetting.

Yikes, and I thought Drake plotting almost directly in front of my house was bad.
Sorry to hear this happened. :(

It certainly makes me appreciate the path addition evermore so, and I surely hope something like that stays in the next game.

Darn, that's too bad. I feel ya about plotting in front of the worst spots ever. For as many times as I had new towns, I've always had villagers plotting literally all around my house. That's why I always choose to place my house in a spot I KNOW they will not plot into. So sorry to hear about that. :(

Ah yes, the famous spot right in front of the town hall, as annoying as the famous spot in front
of the own house. Really sucks when it's actually a villager you like who has to put his/her house
in such a dumb spot. Had this situation so many times, I tried to get used to it, especially if it was
a villager I really liked and didn't wanted to lose because of a bad house spot. But it is still a pain
when a villager do this. That's why I sometimes tried out plot resetting if I wanted to make sure
that something like this doesn't happend. Alternative, I build a PWP that fits good on that spot
where I don't want a villager house there. It worked most of the time pretty good actually.

Anyway, sorry to hear that this happened to you.

Ah that sucks :(
There is always that one villager who moves to your town and places their home right in front of town hall.

That reminds me of my old town. I had this one strip of land between a cliff and the river that I put my house in, and it was like my own private area. Well it was until Tom moved directly in front of my house and destroyed the whole concept of the "mayoral square" that I had nicely planned out. It took me forever to move him out, but that was because I didn't realize that to get a villager to mvoe you had to become really good friends with them.

Anyways, yeah, that sucks. Hopefully either you get him out soon or... idk learn to live w/ it or some madness.

I didn't know about plot resetting when I first started New Leaf and expected to play the same way I did on the GameCube, very casually. I ended up with three villagers settling down around my house and town hall, making me feel completely boxed in.

Yeah the thing I kinda liked about the older games is you knew which spots the villagers could potentially move in so you could keep them clear. While I like that New Leaf presents a sort of freedom by allowing you to choose the location of your house, it can get really annoying when you can't choose where your villagers go.
