I'm just so unhappy with my town layout and name. I know that resetting with a plan would make me feel better, but I can't seem to justify it with the things I've purchased. The furniture and DLCs I have would need to be held on to, and I don't have a second copy or another 3ds. :(

What do you guys think? Is it worth it? The only thing I really worked on is my house, but I would love to create a town worthy of making a DA out of, and with this layout I just don't see it working for me.

Hello!

Maybe you could ask to someone to held your furnitures etc. for you ?
If you are unhappy with your town it is sad, this game offer so many possibilities, if you find a layout that inspires you you will feel much better in game! (at least if the only problem with starting over is keeping your stuff)
Do you have any friends in game, anybody that you trust ?
If not, I've seen some people doing it here. Myself I've met a very nice girl because she wanted to start over and needed someone to keep her stuff! (she still doesn't have take it all back to her new town thought xD But at least I know I'm gonna see her again o/)

And if you can't find anyone, I can held them for you (but I know it is hard to trust someone you don't know, if I was you I would maybe try to get in touch with people I trust or I know even just a little!)

Hope you will love your new town, or find a way to love your actual one. ♥

I think you should try to make a new town because you don`t seem to like the map and town name. It will be worth it and you can enjoy a new and fresh start:)

Thank you guys. :) I will have to find someone I can trust on here to hold some things since I don't know any one around me who plays. (Sad, I have no local AC friends!) but I think what's stopping me is that I don't want to burden any one. I know it can be pretty annoying just having things lay around or clog your storage. :(

I think you should restart. I recently erased my town and started a new one because I hated the layout even though I had accomplished a ton in my town.
It's a great feeling to start a new town with a map layout that you love!

Get a holder and restart. If you all that you really care about in your current town is your furniture, it can easily be held and transferred to your new town by ways of a holder.

I say wait until you're no longer playing the game because of it. I decided a long time ago I was going to reset, then stopped myself because I had already reset way too many times. I then found myself not playing the game anymore. That's when I decided it was better to reset and enjoy the game, then not reset and stop playing it. If you're unhappy with the game and want to reset, then do it. I did and I couldn't be happier. It was a lot of work transferring all my stuff, but I have a beautiful map and layout now. If you don't have a second 3ds, then just ask someone here to hold your stuff. I'm sure a cycler with lots of space would be willing to help(I've seen it).

i've probably reset about 4 times. the last time i reset i left everything behind (all my dreamies i bought, bells i collected, hybrids etc) and i can't explain how much happier i am with the game. I think you should totally go for it! just give anything to friends if you don't feel like resetting completely

If you're really itching to reset, then I say you should do it! I just reset my town, and I'm really excited to have a fresh start! The only bad thing about resetting is having to find your dreamies again and having to unlock everything. But hey, that's the fun of the game! I hope you can find someone to hold your stuff if you do decide to reset. :)

I saw it somewhere else on this forum - that once you start thinking about resetting, you won't get it out of your mind until you just take the plunge and do it. I recently asked a friend to hold a bunch of stuff while I reset and she was very accommodating, letting me dump furniture and bells all over the ground; she just left her 3DS plugged in and took a nap since it ended up taking roughly ~45 mins for me to transfer everything over and then find a town map I liked.

Since you don't have any local friends that play, you could always check for people with good feedback on this site and I'm positive someone will be okay with it. I myself offer to help if no one else beats me to it! Seriously, it's not a burden. If we're already playing and all you have to do is drop off your stuff and pick it up, it's no big deal, we'd have the game open anyway :P Go for it if you're unhappy with your town.

Or try to learn to love it if you really don't want to resort to using someone else's place as a temporary dumping ground. It's up to you. Whatever you think would make you happiest in the long run.

It seems also that there are people that can and will come into your town and tell you waht to do to make your town better, give you ideas and remodeling ideas etc that could be an option for you too

I had the same town from shortly after the game came out here, I added a theme town, and then a cycling town, and got a bit overwhelmed, took a break, came back, turned the cycle town into another theme town, completed the dreamie list for my first theme town, got stuck trying to get any dreamies for the new theme town, and got so bored of waiting for beardo to leave my original town (he was my original smug and was the last barrier to finishing my town development, his house was exactly where i wanted to put my final character house, and I really wanted my last dreamie in place so I could set that house up, and some pwp's near it and then just play freely in my mature town) and he WOULD NOT LEAVE for months, and i got so frustrated, and felt like i was trapped by him and ended up giving up. When I decided it was time to go back to ACNL I realized the only thing that would work for me would be to reset my main town and pare down to just the one for a while. I sold my second and third cartridges and reset using a rl friend to help me hold my unorderables, bells and hybrids. It took forever (I had A LOT of stuff to move, took up most of her beach plus more here and there) but it was very worth it. I found another layout I liked that was different than my first town (all my old towns actually - though I liked all of them, I'm very picky about layout) and because I had become so structured in my earlier towns I decided to take some time to play a little more freely and let villagers come in and out as they wanted to and tried to move around them by adjusting bushes trees and paths and such. I've since gotten past that because I want to keep some of my stuff set up like I made it (it took me forever to get all the lucky clovers I have for some of my paths and the idea of a new unexpected villager erasing them all is very distressing)
Now that I'm settled in I've expanded again, my wonderful husband bought me a used second system so now I'm cycling (mostly to try to get my own dreamies and to help fund my towns and for trading) and have picked up a second actual town as well. I was so stale before, and the game has gotten all new life for me now, as was said before, once you start thinking about it you will probably never get it out of your head. Arrange someone to hold your stuff and do it if you think it will make you happy, there is a town layout out there for everyone if you have the patience, why remain stagnated in a town you feel so-so about when you can have a town you love?

Incidentally, I have two cycling towns going right now that you are more than welcome to use one of to move your stuff through if you need to, I can break my own void so you won't have to worry about that either. feel free to pm me about it!

If you're really that unhappy with your town, and you don't mind unlocking everything again, then do it. I've restarted twice, and there were times when I wish I hadn't, but I'm actually very happy with my current town.

if ur not happy, i don't see things changing soon. i restarted my town recently and i am so happy! now i have like a plan and know where i want everything :)

You shouldn't hang on to a town you don't like. What's the point in playing if you're unhappy? Now you have a better understanding of how things work, so use that knowledge to your advantage. Think of the right name for your town, your character, use a guide to get face you want, and find the map that pleases you most. It will really be worth it in the end.
