I had the same town from shortly after the game came out here, I added a theme town, and then a cycling town, and got a bit overwhelmed, took a break, came back, turned the cycle town into another theme town, completed the dreamie list for my first theme town, got stuck trying to get any dreamies for the new theme town, and got so bored of waiting for beardo to leave my original town (he was my original smug and was the last barrier to finishing my town development, his house was exactly where i wanted to put my final character house, and I really wanted my last dreamie in place so I could set that house up, and some pwp's near it and then just play freely in my mature town) and he WOULD NOT LEAVE for months, and i got so frustrated, and felt like i was trapped by him and ended up giving up. When I decided it was time to go back to ACNL I realized the only thing that would work for me would be to reset my main town and pare down to just the one for a while. I sold my second and third cartridges and reset using a rl friend to help me hold my unorderables, bells and hybrids. It took forever (I had A LOT of stuff to move, took up most of her beach plus more here and there) but it was very worth it. I found another layout I liked that was different than my first town (all my old towns actually - though I liked all of them, I'm very picky about layout) and because I had become so structured in my earlier towns I decided to take some time to play a little more freely and let villagers come in and out as they wanted to and tried to move around them by adjusting bushes trees and paths and such. I've since gotten past that because I want to keep some of my stuff set up like I made it (it took me forever to get all the lucky clovers I have for some of my paths and the idea of a new unexpected villager erasing them all is very distressing)
Now that I'm settled in I've expanded again, my wonderful husband bought me a used second system so now I'm cycling (mostly to try to get my own dreamies and to help fund my towns and for trading) and have picked up a second actual town as well. I was so stale before, and the game has gotten all new life for me now, as was said before, once you start thinking about it you will probably never get it out of your head. Arrange someone to hold your stuff and do it if you think it will make you happy, there is a town layout out there for everyone if you have the patience, why remain stagnated in a town you feel so-so about when you can have a town you love?
Incidentally, I have two cycling towns going right now that you are more than welcome to use one of to move your stuff through if you need to, I can break my own void so you won't have to worry about that either. feel free to pm me about it!
