I came across this topic a while ago:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/997811-animal-crossing-new-leaf/67168682
And I was curious, what do you guys, the Bell Tree community think about this? Especially since the game has been out for such a long time and the fact that there is an active trading community here.
So, care to discuss? :) Don't be aftaid to state your opinion and be sure to respect other people's! ^^

Another question. What do you personally find more creative: the use of a complete (including wall and floor) series that isn't often used (like idk a complete green series) with the addition of some decorative items or a 'mix and match room' of a theme that has often been done before (like a caf? or kitchen)?

All my rooms are series rooms. Yes, they may not leave as much room for creativity, but they're great for the HHA.

Somtimes the sets look so good instead of just being creative. I have 3 Series rooms and 2 creative one's. But it can also have to do with howmuch effort you are willing to put into it.

That's a good point! Obviously some are willing to put more effort into interior design than others, but not only that: if you put the effort into collecting a difficult to get set (like the Card Series) I can understand you want to display it!

I had all series rooms when I first started so I could get the points. When I had finally got the gold exteriors, I completely redecorated. I love mixing pieces and finding different floor and walls to use. It's one of my favorite things to do in New Leaf.I also like making patterns and using them on furniture or walls and flooring. That way, I end up with one of a kind rooms. My favorite is my rubber ducky bathroom and Superman bedroom.

I love having series rooms, it takes so much effort to collect all of each series and to add little things that you think might work with it. In my storage I have so many unfinished sets and then a whole bunch of cute stuff to go in the room that it makes me proud when it all finally comes together. Creative rooms take a lot of experimenting if you're not amazing at interior design and I struggle to make it look the way I like.

I may have felt this way more early on when the game wasn't as old and it felt like every house had either all mermaid stuff or all Nintendo fortune cookie stuff.
I think there's a lot more room for creativity now. I kind of like set rooms but I think being able to effectively mix in other sets is key if that's what you want.

I used the series rooms to get HHA points for the golden exterior, and that was it. I don't mind them, but I feel a room's incomplete if you don't include the whole set, and then everything looks the same. Plus, there's always at least one piece of a set I don't like.

I don't mind them. Yes they can be cookie-cutter but I always am a little happy if I see them in HHA Showcase as it helps me complete my catalog!

Well to be honest, I do think they look boring. But even if they lack attractivity, they do have other pros and I can see why people would want to use them. Some want HHA points, some actually like how they look, some don't like decorating or aren't creative and use them because it's easy, and so on. To each their own.

For me decorating is a creative outlet so naturally I mix things. Usually it's pieces from at least two sets combined with set-less items. Even rooms with a lot of items from the same set can look good as long as there's enough other items to create balance. That's what I think. Rooms with nothing but a full set don't look appealing to me, but it's totally fine if others want to make them.

I like to mix and match, I think rooms are cuter that way. It's weird to me a bit seeing the main room with a bed in it and every other room too. I do admire when someone has a complete set of something though.

They're pretty boring but I've done series rooms before. Boring or not it's good to switch it up.

I prefer a mixed and matched house. Even if it's predominantly of one furniture set, it's still nice to see other pieces in the mix, like another furniture with a similar wood colour, or another furniture set that suits it. When I visit a dream town and I go into a house with only a complete set and nothing else, I usually just walk right out because I've seen it all already :/

They look fine if executed well but it seems a little lazy to just use one series.

It depends. I prefer it when rooms are mixed up and use different kinds of furniture, those are more creative and fun to look at, in my opinion.

A room just with one series is kinda boring. I like to mix and match the some stuff with the other stuff in the series.

I used to have full sets of series in my rooms when I used to play back in the day for HHA points. But since I achieved all that I wanted from HHA, I wanted to give a twist to a lot of my rooms. I really wanted to see what I might come up with when I wasn't being constrained by series/sets or HHA points, so my house can reflect my personality and creativity. It's been so much fun! I really recommend it to anyone out there. You really start to see your own style and tastes reflected in your home.

Some people are not good at matching furnitures and decorating their house. Also, it can get exhausting to find the right furnitures when you want to make an original room.

That's why I make series room. I use all the furniture from a serie and try to add some unrelated stuff that fits well to fill the space. That's the best I can do haha

If by series room you mean just the set by itself, I don't think anyone does that other than for HHA, even when I was working in HHA I added more than just the series. All my rooms are mainly series but I make them look good. I'd rather see a fresh looking series room than a repeated cutesy cabin or pastel cafe, with a bunch of bookshelves and plants. I saw those way too often when visiting popular dream addresses.
